IPC Commends U.S. Senate on Passage of Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for 21st Century Act
June 8, 2016 | IPCEstimated reading time: 1 minute
On behalf of an estimated 800,000 Americans in 2,200 U.S. IPC member facilities, IPC – Association Connecting Electronics Industries applauds the U.S. Senate for its unanimous approval last night of the Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act, known as Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) reform.
IPC strongly supported efforts to reform TSCA, which was sorely outdated without any significant updates since 1976 when the law was enacted. IPC specifically led the advocacy effort to reduce the burdens on the byproducts sent for recycling. The inclusion of byproducts sent for recycling language in the bill caps a strategic, multi-year advocacy effort that required sustained engagement with top policymakers by IPC members and staff.
The passage of this legislation is an important success for the industry that will be good for the U.S. economy and the environment. Together with our members, we look forward to celebrating President Obama’s expected signature that will enact this monumental legislation into law.
