International Data Corporation (IDC) has published its 2016 IDC Innovators report recognizing pioneering players in the worldwide image analytics market. IDC Innovators are companies with under $50 million in revenue that offer an inventive technology and/or groundbreaking new business model.
Clarifai, Enlitic, and Imagga were all named as IDC Innovators in the worldwide image analytics market for 2016.
Image analytics uses large amounts of data to automate image data analysis. "Application of natural language processing and machine learning technologies have advanced image analytics' cost effectiveness and accuracy, exponentially," said Carrie Solinger, senior research analyst, Cognitive Systems and Content Analytics.
Clarifai sets itself apart by using natural language processing algorithms to train neural network-based classifiers for both image and video analysis. Enlitic uses a combination of natural language processing and deep learning techniques to build a platform for image distillation and analytics to discover emerging insights within the healthcare sector. Imagga provides a high level of customization and scalability with its image analysis, focusing on customer-provided data for training sets rather than providing generic or focused web-crawling services.
IDC Innovators: Worldwide Image Analytics, 2016 (IDC #US41626316) profiles select companies in the worldwide image analytics market with an innovative technology or a groundbreaking new business model or both. The IDC Innovators research document examines companies with revenue of less than $50 million with a product, service or business model with a specific use case.
About IDC Innovators Research
IDC Innovators reports present a set of vendors, with annual revenues of $50 million or less, chosen by an IDC analyst within a specific market that offer an innovative new technology, a groundbreaking approach to an existing issue, and/or an interesting new business model. It is not an exhaustive evaluation of all companies in a segment or a comparative ranking of the companies. Vendors in the process of being acquired by a larger company may be included in the report provided the acquisition is not finalized at the time of publication of the report. Vendors funded by venture capital firms may also be included in the report even if the venture capital firm has a financial stake in the vendor's company.
