PCB and EMS Industries Resume Growth
September 21, 2016 | PRNewswireEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Industrial and manufacturing companies are witnessing positive developments. According to IPC, PCB and EMS industries in North America continued to report positive growth over the summer of 2016. The data is based on three-month rolling averages.
Semiconductor companies have been going through a rough period, yet data provided by IPC shows that the turnaround for semiconductor shipments started in April 2016, with encouraging signs of recovery. As sales in the PCB and EMS industries accelerated, companies across the board felt the positive momentum.
Small cap companies like Cemtrex Inc. have benefited a great deal from the recovery in the PCB market. Cemtrex provides PCB assembly services as well as instruments for industrial processes, and industrial environmental control systems. In early August, the company announced that net sales for the three months ended June 30, 2016 increased by 69% to $24.7 million from $14.67 million for the three months ended June 30, 2015. Shares of the company since early May have more than doubled.
Recently, Cemtrex has been active in expanding operations overseas. Earlier this month, the company announced that it has fully integrated with the recently acquired Periscope, an electronics manufacturing company located in Paderborn, Germany. With the integration complete, Cemtrex secured a broader base and larger market share in the Eurozone and claims that it has become among the top 20 EMS companies in Germany.
Larger cap companies like Intel and Advanced Micro Devices have both been recovering from a stable at best in 2015. Shares of Intel and AMD surged by about 25% and 65%, respectively, since May.
Intel has needed to boost its portfolio of products to apply for a wider range of devices, and recently acquired Movidius Technology. Movidius specializes in new devices that are breaking into the mainstream like drones, virtual reality headsets and more.
Texas Instruments Inc. plays a major role in the PCB industry, being a global semiconductor company operating in 35 countries. TI manufactures communication equipment, enterprise systems, as well as hardware for industrial purposes and personal electronics. Shares surged 22% since May.
QUALCOMM is more known for development and commercialization of hardware, designing printed circuit boards for digital communication technology. The company also develops and commercializes a range of other technologies used in handsets and tablets. Shares of QUALCOMM rose by about 25% since May.
