VJ Electronix Adds Component Handling Automation to XQuik II
January 26, 2017 | VJ Electronix, Inc.Estimated reading time: Less than a minute

VJ Electronix Inc. introduces component reel handing automation for its XQuik II with AccuCount system.
The revolutionary XQuik II with AccuCount Technology is now faster than ever. With available material handling automation, the XQuik system automatically counts components at up to twice the original speed.
The new two-level conveyor provides automatic load and unload of reels. The operator may scan barcodes, apply labels and transfer reels while scanning and counting of the next reels takes place – providing a significant throughput increase.
Product Manager Frank Cosentino said, "XQuik reduces time to return components to stock. Faster inventory turnover reduces cost and eliminates the risk of line down events due to inventory shortages."
The XQuik processes either one 13" to 15" reel or four 7" reels at one time. Automatic counting algorithms mean no programming is required. The easily customized MES interface eliminates manual data entry, saving more time and eliminating the risk of human error.

The Death of the Microsection
06/26/2025 | Bob Neves, Reliability Assessment Solutions, Inc.I got my start out of college grinding and polishing PCB microsections. My thumbs are a bit arthritic today because of the experience (microsection grinders know what I mean). Back then, via structures were rather large, and getting to the center in six steps of grinding and polishing was easy compared to what my team has been doing recently at the lab.

Fresh PCB Concepts: Assembly Challenges with Micro Components and Standard Solder Mask Practices
06/26/2025 | Team NCAB -- Column: Fresh PCB ConceptsMicro components have redefined what is possible in PCB design. With package sizes like 01005 and 0201 becoming more common in high-density layouts, designers are now expected to pack more performance into smaller spaces than ever before. While these advancements support miniaturization and functionality, they introduce new assembly challenges, particularly with traditional solder mask and legend application processes.
