IPC Membership Reaches Significant Milestone
March 27, 2017 | IPCEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
IPC worldwide membership has climbed to an all-time high in 2017 with more than 4,000 member sites in 79 countries as companies in the electronics manufacturing industry continue to acknowledge the strong value of IPC’s product and service offerings. Fueled by double digit percentage growth across Asia, IPC Asia Pacific has nearly 1,000 members and buoyed by IPC’s new office in Brussels, IPC’s member count in Europe has reached 600.
Additionally, the Enterprise membership category, launched in 2015, has grown significantly as companies recognize it as a cost-effective way for companies with multiple locations to increase their overall engagement in and access to IPC’s core activities, especially standards. Retention remains above 85% with members renewing their annual membership naming the importance of certification, standards and events as valuable benefits for their productivity and profitability.
“Over the past year, IPC has introduced tools which improve the value members receive for their membership. As an example, IPC EDGE, designed to deliver education and develop the competitive skills to excel in the electronics industry, offers interactive and flexible learning opportunities for the entire supply chain,” said Sanjay Huprikar, vice president of member success. “Additionally, IPC’s technical department staff working in conjunction with standards committees improved the timing of standards updates and amendments to meet the members’ needs to stay on the leading edge in this fast-paced, continually evolving electronics industry. With the addition of Member Success Advocates (MSAs) to our staff, members are enjoying personalized attention and improved access to IPC resources.”
“In 2016, IPC saw great growth across Asia Pacific, adding more than 100 new members to IPC’s overall worldwide membership. With this growth, Asia Pacific’s membership makes up 24% of IPC’s worldwide membership,” said Phil Carmichael, president, IPC Asia. “We have experienced good member growth in the People’s Republic of China and South Korea as well. And, we’re off to a strong start in 2017.”
Adds John Mitchell, IPC president and CEO, “Over the years, IPC has made great strides to become a leading association serving the needs of a global industry. We believe strongly in supporting the global electronics supply chain by providing standards, education, advocacy and solutions, and will work to support our members wherever they may be located to achieve competitive excellence and financial success. I think it’s fitting that we have achieved this membership milestone as we’re celebrating a milestone anniversary – 60 years of serving the electronics industry. We’re looking forward to serving our members for the next 60 years.”
