Juki to Launch New Component Storage System at SMTAI 2017
August 15, 2017 | Juki Automation Systems (JAS), Inc.Estimated reading time: 2 minutes
Juki Automation Systems (JAS) Inc., provider of automated assembly products and systems and part of Juki Automation Systems Corporation, will showcase several new products, including the ISM UltraFlex 1800, AXI5100c inline X-ray component counter and RS-1 Placement Machine, at SMTA International 2017, scheduled to take place September 19-20, 2017 at the Donald Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois. The company will be in Booth 1131.
The UltraFlex 1800 is able to dynamically adjust the internal subdivision of space to accommodate changing mixes of reel heights from 8 up to 88mm, and diameters from 7 to 15". The new case designs allow storage of JEDEC trays on ANY case format (both 7 and 15" wide).
The ISM UltraFlex 1800 offers the utmost in flexibility, storage capacity, intelligence and ROI in the industry. It can communicate across a wide variety of vendor platforms. Capable of providing up to 54 reels for production simultaneously, the ISM1800 can read low parts, warning to output the required reel in advance. With the capability to grow reels up to 88mm in height, the ISM1800 is the next piece in building out your smart factory.
The AXI500c is capable of counting the latest 03015s as well as (4) 7" or (1) 15" reels of various thicknesses. In addition to counting reels, the AXI5100c also can count components in ESD bags, storage sticks, and trays. The AXI5100c is a fully automated inline system that can handle loading and unloading of components using various conveyors, loaders/unloaders and even robots. The key advantage of the inline counter is the ability to communicate directly with the JUKI ISM component storage towers offering complete and confident automation of component inventory.
The mid-speed RS-1 features one multi-function head New Head – the LNC120 with a 12mm pitch and eight nozzles as well as a diffuser for vision. The LNC-120 head laser moves up and down depending on component height, resulting in the highest CPH regardless of component height. Combined with the “new” RF electronic feeders, the system has an optimal throughput of 40,000CPH. With new odd-form recognition technology, the RS-1 provides easy data entry for odd-form parts.
Juki manufactures high quality SMT placement systems for use in the electronics manufacturing industry. Renowned for producing reliable, flexible placement equipment that is very easy to use and maintain, Juki is a significant player in the high-speed market.

Knocking Down the Bone Pile: Revamp Your Components with BGA Reballing
10/14/2025 | Nash Bell -- Column: Knocking Down the Bone PileBall grid array (BGA) components evolved from pin grid array (PGA) devices, carrying over many of the same electrical benefits while introducing a more compact and efficient interconnect format. Instead of discrete leads, BGAs rely on solder balls on the underside of the package to connect to the PCB. In some advanced designs, solder balls are on both the PCB and the BGA package. In stacked configurations, such as package-on-package (PoP), these solder balls also interconnect multiple packages, enabling higher functionality in a smaller footprint.
