Optimal Electronics Lands Technology Award for Its Optel Mobile Smart Factory
November 15, 2017 | Optimal Electronics CorporationEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Optimal Electronics Corporation was awarded a 2017 Global Technology Award in the category of Software–Production for its Optel Mobile Smart Factory. The award was presented to the company on November 14, 2017, in a ceremony that took place during productronica in Munich, Germany.
Mobile solutions are at the heart of the Smart Factory as well as an important step towards the future, which will be automated electronics assembly without operators. Customers demand mobile solutions, where a mobile device can manage one or more assembly lines, instead of the traditional way of one PC per machine.
Lights out electronic assembly is the ability to run printed circuit board (PCB) assembly lines unattended by operators for an extended period of time. Optimal Electronics’ Mobile Solutions are designed to achieve that. A lights out electronics assembly plant will be controlled by a small number of people from the Control Room, but the performance of the plant can be monitored from anywhere on mobile devices. Optel Mobile Solutions support both.
Optimal Electronics' mobile solutions include: real-time production control, materials management with electronic Kanban, line setup verification, component traceability data collection and reporting. Additionally, the mobile Smart Factory offers real-time machine performance monitoring, component consumption and scrap data collection, and feedback to the ERP system for inventory adjustments to avoid unexpected part shortages.
Dr. Ranko Vujosevic, founder and CEO at Optimal Electronics, commented, "We are honored to receive the 2017 Global Technology Award. It is a proof that our company’s focus on mobile and smart software solutions is the right direction. We will continue to lead in applications of Industry 4.0 in the electronics assembly."
Premiering in 2005, the Global Technology Awards program is an annual celebration of product excellence in electronics surface mount assembly. Premier products based on the finest examples of creative advancement in technology are chosen by a distinguished panel of industry experts.
Optimal Electronics is a global provider of innovative MES solutions for the electronics assembly industry. Optimal Electronics’ flagship product, Optel, provides a fully integrated, modular shopfloor control system for productivity improvement, materials management, traceability and quality management.
