Current IssueThe Rise of Data
Analytics is a given in this industry, but the threshold is changing. If you think you're too small to invest in analytics, you may need to reconsider. So how do you do analytics better? What are the new tools, and how do you get started?
Counterfeit Concerns
The distribution of counterfeit parts has become much more sophisticated in the past decade, and there's no reason to believe that trend is going to be stopping any time soon. What might crop up in the near future?
Solder Printing
In this issue, we turn a discerning eye to solder paste printing. As apertures shrink, and the requirement for multiple thicknesses of paste on the same board becomes more commonplace, consistently and accurately applying paste becomes ever more challenging.

SCS to Discuss Ultra-Thin Conformal Coatings in a Webinar
December 5, 2017 | SCSEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Specialty Coating Systems (SCS) is pleased to announce that it will participate in a PennWell webinar on Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at 2 p.m. EST. SCS’ Tim Seifert, Military & Avionics Market Manager, and Rakesh Kumar, Ph.D., Vice President of Technology, will present: “Ultra-thin, Lightweight Conformal Coating Protection Increases the Reliability of Critical Electronics.” The webinar is now open for registration at: scswebinars.com.
Engineers are tasked with increasing reliability of components that continue to grow in complexity and decrease in dimension. For many years, conformal coatings have offered valuable protection, but many simply do not offer the level that is required for today’s innovative technologies. Ultra-thin and lightweight, Parylene conformal coatings enhance the reliability of devices and components, including PCBs, sensors, LEDs, MEMS, semiconductor products and elastomeric seals, to name a few.
This webinar will discuss Parylene coatings – how they are applied, their properties and benefits, and the industries and applications where Parylenes commonly provide reliable protection. The presentation also will review advances in adhesion technologies, which have significantly increased bonding to difficult surfaces (e.g., highly polished metals and a variety of polymers), and the use of Parylene as a structural, nano-scale material.
For more than 45 years, Parylene conformal coatings have enhanced the reliability of numerous devices and components across the electronics, automotive, military, medical device and aerospace industries.
