Syrma Technology Unveils Eco-Friendly A/C Inverter Controller Boards
December 21, 2017 | Syrma TechnologyEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Syrma Technology today launched a line of easily customizable air conditioner inverter controller boards, designed to coincide with increased global demand for green HVAC systems.
Inverter technology offers significant benefits over traditional, fixed-speed air conditioners. Circuit-board microcontrollers enable the inverter to automatically regulate the volume of the BLDC compressor motor, compensating for fluctuating climate conditions—highest speeds in extremely hot weather to lower speeds in cooler temperatures. Essentially an air conditioner’s internal thermostat, this automated flexibility reduces normal power consumption by 30-50 percent, while lowering operating noise and limiting daily wear—extending products’ service life.
While most of the world craves indoor comfort at economical costs, eco-friendly inverter air conditioners are garnering special attention in India, where recently-enacted energy efficiency regulations mandate the future construction of ‘green buildings’, with significantly lower power and water consumption, while the climate of India requires additional ‘tropicalization’ of compressors and other AC components against extreme heat and humidity.
With market demand poised to soar, Syrma has leveraged its four decades of PCBA design and engineering expertise into domestic development of cost-effective controller boards—surpassing the quality of imported components.
“While we’re witnessing a sharp upturn in the global demand for inverter controllers, most of the aircon OEMs we’ve talked to aren’t happy with the quality of boards they’ve received from other global vendors,” said Sreeram Srinivasan, Syrma CEO. “Common pain points revolve around the embedded firmware necessary for the inverters to compensate for changes in ambient temperature. We’ve invested our additional software resources to develop both better boards and firmware, which are universally adaptable to any model of any manufacturer’s air conditioner.”
“Our engineering challenge was to analyze the unique heat transfer concepts of inverters and successfully adapt them into the controller board design,” added Sreedharan NG, Syrma Senior VP of Design and Engineering. “The end result is a versatile line of cost-competitive controller boards which are an ideal choice for OEMs targeting the expanding markets of Asia and beyond.”
To fully meet OEM specifications across the aircon market, Syrma offers two variants of inverter controller boards:
- A high frequency controller for maximized energy efficiency.
- A low frequency controller, designed for optimized cost competitiveness.

Connect the Dots: Designing for Reality—The Pre-Manufacturing Process
05/08/2024 | Matt Stevenson -- Column: Connect the DotsI have been working with Nolan Johnson on a podcast series about designing PCBs for the reality of manufacturing. By sharing lessons learned over a long career in the PCB industry, we hope to shorten learning curves and help designers produce better boards with less hassle and rework. Episode 2 deals with the electronic pre-manufacturing process. Moving from CAD (computer-aided design) to CAM (computer-aided manufacturing) is a key step in PCB manufacturing. CAM turns digital designs into instructions that machines can use to actually build the PCB.
