iNEMI Names Marc Benowitz CEO

The International Electronics Manufacturing Initiative (iNEMI) today announced that the consortium has named Dr. Marc Benowitz as its Chief Executive Officer. He replaces Bill Bader, who has retired after serving as iNEMI’s CEO since August 2009.

Benowitz has a long history with iNEMI. He has been a member of the consortium’s Board of Directors since 2001 and has served as Chairman since 2013.  He comes to iNEMI from member company Nokia (Bell Labs), where he was, most recently, Senior Director of the Reliability, HW Test and Eco-Environmental Engineering organization.

Jean-Luc Pelissier, CEO of the CBA Group (Universal Instruments and Hover-Davis), will take over as Interim Chair of the iNEMI Board until a new Chairman can be elected.

“The iNEMI Board has every confidence that Marc will be able to hit the ground running and make this leadership transition a smooth one.” said Pelissier. “He has a strong technology and organizational leadership background, and significant experience in the electronics industry. He has also been actively involved with iNEMI, as well other industry consortia, for many years. Most recently, as Chairman, he worked closely with Bill and played a hands-on role in overseeing operations as well as being involved in making decisions regarding the policy, strategy and direction of the consortium. I have no doubt that iNEMI will benefit greatly from his expertise and unique perspective.”

“As the outgoing Chairman, I would like to thank Bill Bader for the strong leadership he gave iNEMI in his eight years as CEO,” said Benowitz. “He helped grow and expand our membership base around the globe and contributed significantly to the ongoing stability of the organization, most notably during a period of significant industry changes and challenges. He initiated roadmapping activities and projects in key growing market areas such as MEMS, photonics, automotive and medical electronics; and successfully brought iNEMI into the research grant arena. He also strengthened iNEMI’s ties with other industry consortia, associations and research institutes worldwide. I truly appreciate the foundation he has laid as we take iNEMI forward."
