Macroeconomic Advisers by IHS Markit provided the most accurate forecasts for the U.S. economy in 2017 according to FocusEconomics, IHS Markit (Nasdaq: INFO), a world leader in critical information, analytics and solutions, announced today.
The Macroeconomic Advisers by IHS Markit team received the FocusEconomics Analyst Forecast Award for being the most accurate overall in predicting the eventual 2017 U.S. outcomes. The awards recognize the analysts whose forecasts submitted to the monthly Consensus Forecast survey are the most accurate for six main macroeconomic indicators: gross domestic product (GDP), fiscal balance, inflation, interest rates, exchange rates and current account over a 24-month forecasting cycle beginning in January 2016.
“This award follows a similar best forecast accuracy recognition for 2017 our team received earlier this year from the Wall Street Journal and demonstrates the outstanding work our U.S. economists, led by Joel Prakken and Chris Varvares, perform every day and the value IHS Markit brings to our clients,” said Zbyszko Tabernacki, senior vice president and head of economics and country risk for IHS Markit. “Last year’s acquisition of Macroeconomic Advisers by IHS Markit brought together two award-winning U.S. economic forecasting teams and enabled our offering to remain best in class. Most importantly, our forecasts are underpinned by a robust and proven econometric forecasting model developed over many years and providing clients with the confidence they need in anticipating developments in these uncertain times.”
