With semiconductors at the heart of the smart technology revolution, SEMICON Europa 2018 is poised to gather industry visionaries and innovation leaders driving the next phase of industry growth. 13-16 November at Messe München in Munich, Germany, SEMICON Europa will highlight industry trends and opportunities as artificial intelligence and IoT chips power autonomous vehicles, robotics, drones and a myriad of other devices in an increasingly data-centric world. Registration is now open.
Co-located with electronica, SEMICON Europa is Europe’s largest platform connecting the entire electronics manufacturing supply chain. Themed “Semiconductors Drive Smart,” SEMICON Europa 2018 kicks off with a keynote opening ceremony featuring executive industry leaders’ perspectives on market growth opportunities for Europe.
“With semiconductors driving smart innovations, Europe is strategically positioned in the global electronics value chain to meet the multi-dimensional challenge of driving innovation across the industry,” stated Laith Altimime, president, SEMI Europe. “Europe’s leading research and development hubs, materials and equipment companies, and chipmakers will enable future smart applications such as autonomous driving, internet of things, artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning.”
SEMICON Europa will showcase critical aspects of AI and data including manufacturing technologies, research, collaboration, education, skills and regulations, with the TechARENA dedicating a special session to AI and the future of computing. SEMICON Europa’s focus on AI dovetails with the European AI strategy announced this year. Under the initiative, Europe will invest an additional 20 billion EUR in AI development by 2020, bolstering the European Union’s technology leadership.
New this year at SEMICON Europa is the SEMI Global Automotive Advisory Council (GAAC) Automotive Forum, designed to connect the entire automotive electronics supply chain including electronics design leaders Synopsis and Cadence. The forum is part of SEMI’s strategic pre-competitive auto collaboration platform to enable the autonomous car of 2030. SEMICON Europa 2018’s Smart Mobility session follows the forum, providing strategic and technical insights into how sensors can improve autonomous-vehicle safety, microcontrollers can enhance energy efficiency, and autonomous vehicles can be integrated into the urban infrastructure.
With the rapid pace of technology innovation, the industry continues to grapple with a worker shortage in preparing talent in a climate of rapidly evolving skill sets. To help address these challenges, SEMICON Europa Workforce Day on 14 November will offer insights into gaining, training and retaining talent as the SEMI Career Café connects leaders in education and industry to help build the European electronics industry talent pipeline.
Highlights of SEMICON Europa also include:
- Advanced Packaging Conference: Technology trends – what´s new, what´s missing, what´s next
- 22nd Fab Management Forum: Attracting European wafer fab customers and talent
- Strategic Materials Conference: Diversity in materials for high technology
- 2018FLEX Europe - Be Flexible: Innovations enabled by flexible electronics
