Nordson Receives Outstanding Philanthropic Business Award
November 9, 2018 | NordsonEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Nordson Corporation announces that it received the Outstanding Philanthropic Business/Corporation Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) San Diego Chapter. The award honors the dedication, leadership, and community contributions of San Diego County’s philanthropists, volunteers, professionals, and organizations. Nordson was nominated by six of the non-profit organizations it supports in the San Diego area: Girl Scouts San Diego, Casa de Amparo, Interfaith Community Services, North County Philanthropy Council, MiraCosta College, and Carlsbad Educational Foundation.
“Nordson Corporation has a long and proud history of giving back to the communities where we live and work,” explained Joe Stockunas, Corporate Vice President for Advanced Technology - Electronics Systems, Nordson Corporation. “We strongly believe it is our responsibility as a corporate citizen to share our success with our communities. Nordson donates 5 percent of its U.S. pre-tax profits to support charitable endeavors every year. We encourage all employees to make a difference in our communities in the ways that are most meaningful to them and provide opportunities to get involved through six community engagement programs that together create The Nordson Impact.”
“Our National Philanthropy Day Honorary Committee was impressed by the impact, dedication, and passion of all of the nominees for Outstanding Corporation. With nominations from six organizations, Nordson rose to the top through the impact of their nonprofit support, their focus on meeting the genuine needs of the communities served by the nonprofits they help, and the passion for philanthropy that clearly is part of their corporate culture,” stated Lisa Ritchie, M.A., CFRE, President, Association of Fundraising Professionals – San Diego, and Vice President, Netzel Grigsby Associates, Inc.
Nordson employs more than 600 people in northern San Diego County who provide equipment to the electronics industry. Nordson designs, manufactures, and delivers equipment for fluid dispensing, plasma surface treatment, and automated optical and x-ray inspection equipment. The company’s machines serve global customers who manufacture consumer and industrial electronic products, including mobile phones, hearing aids, automotive electronics and aerospace products, which require high levels of precision and reliability.
The Association of Fundraising Professionals is the world’s largest network of fundraising professionals. Its mission is to stimulate a world of generosity and positive social change. Its 33,000 members raise $115 billion annually—more than one-quarter of all charitable giving in North America.
The award was presented at a luncheon held on National Philanthropy Day, November 5, 2018, at the Town and Country Hotel in San Diego, California.
