Goepel's Predictive Maintenance for Inline AXI System
November 9, 2018 | GOEPEL ElectronicEstimated reading time: 1 minute

Goepel electronic's X Line · 3D X-ray system is getting a new app in its machine software that provides the ability for a system to create usage-based maintenance plans and monitor itself independently (preventive/predictive maintenance).
Self-diagnosis with predictive and preventive maintenance management ensures stable machine conditions and repeatable, consistent performance. Every key component of the machine is monitored and a detailed maintenance overview is created. A preventive maintenance plan reduces machine downtime and thus costs.
In practice, it is no longer necessary to work according to fixed maintenance cycles (weekly/monthly/annually). Instead, use-related values such as axis kilometers travelled, pneumatic strokes performed and beam hours of the X-ray source are monitored. These values are provided with a warning and service threshold. If the warning threshold is exceeded, preventive maintenance can be planned. Furthermore, the current consumption of the axis systems is also monitored. Increased current consumption is usually due to an increased coefficient of friction in the axis mechanism. In the case of a fixed maintenance cycle, this would possibly be detected too late. However, targeted monitoring enables maintenance measures to be initiated in time.
The previous service booklet with maintenance plan and protocol is completely digitized with the new app. This provides more transparency and enables simultaneous monitoring of several machines at a glance, making maintenance easier to plan and reducing downtime.
The new Service & Maintenance app is available in the machine software PILOT Inspect Version 3.4 for the inline X-ray system X Line · 3D.
