Current IssueThe Rise of Data
Analytics is a given in this industry, but the threshold is changing. If you think you're too small to invest in analytics, you may need to reconsider. So how do you do analytics better? What are the new tools, and how do you get started?
Counterfeit Concerns
The distribution of counterfeit parts has become much more sophisticated in the past decade, and there's no reason to believe that trend is going to be stopping any time soon. What might crop up in the near future?
Solder Printing
In this issue, we turn a discerning eye to solder paste printing. As apertures shrink, and the requirement for multiple thicknesses of paste on the same board becomes more commonplace, consistently and accurately applying paste becomes ever more challenging.

Koh Young Receives Mexico EMS Technology Award
November 14, 2018 | Koh Young TechnologyEstimated reading time: 2 minutes
Koh Young America proudly accepted the award for Best Process Control Software for its Koh Young Process Optimizer a (KPO) solution at the Mexico EMS Technology Award ceremony held today in conjunction with SMTA Guadalajara.
“Realizing a smart factory requires a practical approach to production, while seeking areas to improve. Using real 3D measurement data helps manufacturers identify inefficiencies and boost line performance,” said Ramon Hernandez, Koh Young America Sales Manager for Mexico and South America after accepting the award. “Koh Young is leading the effort to harness this connectivity and create a smart factory. We are honored to be recognized afor our efforts to improve the electronics manufacturing industry,” said Hernandez.
KSMART Process Optimizer (KPO) includes a set of software modules exercising complex algorithms to develop and implement closed-loop print processes through Machine-to-Machine (M2M) connectivity. Yet, product miniaturization is driving smaller aperture designs and finer solders, which makes printing a highly-sophisticated process with significant impact on yields. In turn, manufacturers must develop and apply the optimal printing paraments consistently. Defining the ideal process parameter set requires user expertise because of the many variables and considerations. Using M2M, Koh Young is overcoming the challenge. KSMART Process Optimizer (KPO) has evolved far beyond a simple closed-loop option to monitor and adjust the print process.
“Smart systems like KPO allow real-time results to be correlated, analyzed, and implemented to optimize production. Looking forward to the Smart Factory, we are focused on expanding KPO capabilities to help manufacturers understand and apply process data from the connected systems,” said Brent Fischthal, Sr Manager for Americas Marketing at Koh Young.
Koh Young will also be available to discuss its latest production and process innovations during SMTA Guadalajara during the next two days at the EXPO Guadalajara convention center. We welcome show attendees to visit us and understand why so many manufacturers turn to Koh Young for inspection challenges.
