Global Display Driver Market Expected to Reach $9.12 Billion by 2023

The display driver market was valued at $6.57 billion in 2017 and is expected to reach $9.12 billion by 2023, at a CAGR of 5.1% during the forecast period.
A display driver IC controls the current and voltage requirements across the display panel for it to function. The display driver receives image data from timing controller and delivers precise analog voltages or currents to create images on the display.
The two main types of display drivers in the market are display driver IC (DDIC) and touch and display driver integration (TDDI). DDIC-type drivers require separate integration of touch controller, whereas TDDI IC offers both display driver and touch controller functionalities.
Both types of display drivers can be manufactured on the basis of two main packaging methodschip-on-glass (CoG), and chip-on-film (CoF). COG-based display drivers have been in the market for many years; however, COF is emerging as a new approach, especially in small devices where full-view displays are major focus currently.
Each display panel has a unique pixel design to meet particular requirements, and to optimize panel's performance, display drivers are customized for each design. The most common customization requirement is to optimize the gamma curve. Display driver manufacturers work closely with their customers (display panel manufacturer) to develop products that meet their specific needs to optimize the overall performance of end products.
Increasing demand for OLED and flexible displays, adoption of highly priced and advanced display drivers, and growth in automotive displays are the major factors driving the market. Growth in the use of 4K and 8K televisions and availability of UHD content; and evolving role of DDICs in individual components and single integration chips also drive the growth of the market for display driver ICs.
Construction of new OLED and LCD panel manufacturing facilities, development of display drivers based on chip-on-film packages, and innovations in TDDI-type display drivers are the major opportunities in front of display driver manufacturers in near future. Smartphone, television, automotive, and smart wearable segments are expected to offer high growth opportunities to display driver manufacturers in the market.
Display driver solution provider are closely watching the display panel market to establish growth strategies mainly because of emerging display technologies such as micro-LED and true quantum dot, which will play crucial role in display panel market in far future.
Saturated growth and declining volumes of shipments of display panels for TVs, tablets, and monitors are expected to hamper the growth of display driver market during the forecast period. High competition and demand for diverse product specification, and rapid advancements in display technologies are the major challenges faced by display driver manufacturers in the market.

The Marketing Minute: Marketing With Layers
10/15/2025 | Brittany Martin -- Column: The Marketing MinuteMarketing to a technical audience is like crafting a multilayer board: Each layer serves a purpose, from the surface story to the buried detail that keeps everything connected. At I-Connect007, we’ve learned that the best marketing campaigns aren’t built linearly; they’re layered. A campaign might start with a highly technical resource, such as an in-depth article, a white paper, or a podcast featuring an engineer delving into the details of a process. That’s the foundation, the substance that earns credibility.

It’s Only Common Sense: Stop Whining About the Market—Outwork It
10/06/2025 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common SenseWhenever the market hiccups or the industry cycle dips, I hear the same tired chorus: “The market is down. Customers aren’t buying. What can we do? We just have to wait it out.” Nonsense. If you think that by showing up, opening your doors, and waiting for the economy to smile kindly upon you, that success will follow, you are in the wrong business. Worse yet, you’re living in the wrong mindset. Most people don’t want to hear the truth that winners find business in down cycles. Losers blame the economy.
