Integrated Assembly Solutions Reports Record Growth in 2018
April 3, 2019 | VDMAEstimated reading time: Less than a minute
Sales of manufacturers of components and systems for assembly and handling technology in Germany rose last year by 9% to a total of 8.3 billion euros, the fifth time in succession.
Integrated Assembly Solutions (IAS), a sub-sector of robotics and automation, was able to continue its growth course in 2018. Sales of manufacturers of components and systems for assembly and handling technology in Germany rose last year by 9% to a total of 8.3 billion euros, the fifth time in succession. IAS grew by 43% between 2013 and 2018 (an average of 7.5% a year).
Despite a decline in order intake in December, a very good result was achieved. It is also pleasing that demand from the European countries continued to rise in 2018. How IAS 2019 develops depends on several external factors in the global economy. For Germany, but also for Europe, protectionism, Brexit and trade conflicts are a danger that can affect export-dependent mechanical engineering and thus the IAS. In addition, one of the most important IAS customer industries, the automotive industry, is undergoing change. Due to the aforementioned uncertainties and the already high starting point, IAS expects moderate growth in 2019.
