Chromasens Introduces chromaPIXA Tri-linear Linescan Camera
August 20, 2019 | ChromasensEstimated reading time: 1 minute

Chromasens, a pioneer in 2D and 3D imaging technology, today launched the new chromaPIXA tri-linear CCD sensor linescan camera. Exceptionally fast to meet the demands of web-based print inspection, the chromaPIXA captures 7.3k full resolution images from each of its three channels at line rates up to 29.7 kHz (29,700 lines/second), ensuring that every pixel is measured without relying on interpolation. Outputting in LAB format, the camera provides unrivaled detection of color flaws directly within the production process, and expands the options for designers of color linescan systems who require maximum color image fidelity, sensitivity, and configuration flexibility.
"The chromaPIXA's ultra-stable inline color measurements detect any variation in color to help improve downstream color processing and satisfy quality standards, while eliminating the high cost of production waste," said Martin Hund, co-CEO of Chromasens. "Precise color reproduction is a fundamental condition for the printing industry as it sets an especially high bar for color fidelity, making the chromPIXA the perfect camera for color-verification systems."
The chromaPIXA camera precisely captures a spectrum of colors that match their appearance in nature, with superior consistently in all lighting conditions. Its highly sensitive tri-linear CCD sensor features minimal spacing and precise sensor line synchronization for alignment of the R, G, and B channels. A unique color calibration system internally converts the sensor’s spectral response to match sRGB, eciRGB, AdobeRGB, CIE-L*a*b* or CIE-XYZ profile standards in realtime. Combined with Chromasens chromaCalc software, the camera ensures different devices produce identical results when presented with the same color data. In addition, continuous white balancing guarantees a stable white point to match the application's light source perfectly and take into account minor color shifts that are the result of aging lights, temperature, and ambient lighting conditions.
Like all Chromasens cameras, the new chromaPIXA is built rugged to withstand industrial environments. Its metal housing permits a wide operating range of 32°F to 140°F (0°C to 60°C) yet boasts low-profile, easy-to-install dimensions of 102mm x 100mm x 77mm. For added versatility either F-mount or C-mount lenses can be used.
