Altus Enters a New Partnership with Smart Visual Inspection Pioneers
November 26, 2019 | Altus GroupEstimated reading time: 1 minute

Altus Group, a leading supplier of capital equipment in the UK and Ireland, is pleased to announce the new partnership with Kitov, innovators in fully automated inspection solutions. Strengthening Altus’ impressive portfolio of equipment for the electronics industry, Kitov will add a new dimension to the company’s impressive range of products.
Sharing the same ethos of providing the very best systems to help manufacturers reduce costs, improve quality and efficiency, Altus and Kitov are very well-suited.
“It is very important that we partner with forward-thinking companies who can provide our customers with the very best solutions for their needs,” explained Richard Booth, managing director.
“Manufacturing processes are changing and with the digital transformation to Industry 4.0 it is important that we have a number of solutions that will integrate and work well within this ideal. Kitov sits perfectly within our portfolio and has best-in-class technology solutions with a fully automated Smart visual inspection solution for a broad range of production lines and markets.
“We are delighted to announce this strategic partnership with Kitov, whose award-winning solutions will provide further choice for our customers and be a significant benefit to the manufacturing processes for our clients.”
With superior detection which incorporates full 3D coverage, Kitov systems are consistent, quicker and reliable, when compared to human-based visual inspection methods.
Kitov harnesses 3D computer vision algorithms and artificial intelligence, such as machine learning and deep learning, to reliably and consistently detect and classify critical defects without human intervention. The system is based on a unique design that includes a robotic arm and a high-accuracy rotating table. This design imitates the way humans look for defects and facilitates the collection of multiple images of the inspected product from various angles, positions and illumination conditions.
Products include KITOV ONE, the first-of-its-kind Smart 3D, universal system that can effectively inspect virtually any product. By imitating human learning processes, KITOV ONE features an intuitive method to teach the system how to optimally inspect almost any product. Setting up the system does not require programming skills or knowledge of robotics or optics. KITOV ONE software computes and controls the processes of image acquisition and image processing by using pre-set algorithms called detectors. Artificial intelligence capabilities are used to find and classify defects.
