Lockheed Martin announced a corporate donation to The Common Mission Project to support the adoption of innovative solutions that solve critical national security challenges through the National Security Innovation Network (NSIN) program Hacking for Defense® (H4D), a nationwide academic course.
The NSIN H4D program is provided to 24 universities throughout the United States, powered by BMNT Inc. and the Common Mission Project.
“As the first defense industry partner donating to Hacking for Defense, we will provide the aerospace knowledge and support needed to help students solve pressing national security challenges at startup speeds,” said Chris Moran, Vice President and General Manager of Lockheed Martin Ventures. “With this investment in the next generation of STEM leaders, we are eager to support the future national security talent pipeline.”
H4D teaches students how to use modern entrepreneurial tools and Silicon Valley problem-solving techniques to quickly solve national security problems while providing a new platform for national service.
“We are excited to partner with Lockheed Martin to support Hacking for Defense students in their discovery around DoD problem areas and prototyping of solutions. Lockheed Martin’s donation will further enhance the adoption of disruptive solutions within the DoD,” said Alex Gallo, Executive Director of The Common Mission Project.
In 2020, the Lockheed Martin donation will support H4D students at The University of Texas at Austin and Stanford University. A full listing of Hacking for Defense resources and universities offering the course can be found at the H4D website.
