Inovar Sees Efficiency Improvements with CheckSum’s 12KN Test System
December 18, 2019 | CheckSumEstimated reading time: 1 minute
CheckSum, a leading supplier of test solutions for electronics production, is excited to announce that its12KN is improving production efficiency by combining ICT and programming into one process at Inovar. Located in Logan, Utah, Inovar is a leading contract manufacturer.
Jeffrey Nielsen, Process/Test Engineering Manager at Inovar, Inc. mentions, “Reducing the test time for our highly panelized boards was a key objective in looking for our next test solution. CheckSum’s 12KN allowed us to combine in-circuit test with device programming. Integrating the Multi-Writer programmer in our 12KN Test System allowed us to program our entire panel of 25 PCBs in parallel, reducing out test time by as much as 65 percent.
The 12KN has allowed Inovar to dramatically reduce their program and test times for highly panelized PCBs. “We also were able to combine our LED testing with ICT, creating one process to support the complete test requirements for our boards,” added Nielsen. Programming on the board at the end of the line also gives us better flexibility to support customers software revision changes. Ease of use and reliability have made the 12KN a welcome addition to our test capabilities.”
The12KN Press is designed for high volume applications for boards / panels with up to 5200 test points and built-in dual-level probing for easy physical isolation. It can be easily integrated with any CheckSum test electronics, including in-circuit test, in-system programming and functional tests. The standard rack/cabinet allows for easy integration of optional third-party instrumentation. The rapid and smooth pneumatic press actuation provides for a reliable, repeatable and fast operation. An integrated light curtain ensures operator safety while maintaining fast operation and ease of use.
Inovar is a complete EMS company with service lines spanning from full-scale product design to end-customer fulfillment. The company is management-owned and was founded in 1998. Over the past 20 years, Inovar has grown to more than 400 employees in Utah and 200 employees in Tecate, Mexico. Inovar has consistently been recognized as one of Utah’s fastest growing companies during that time frame.

American Made Advocacy: Rebuilding America’s Military Stockpiles Begins With Microelectronics
04/28/2026 | Shane Whiteside -- Column: American Made AdvocacyCurrent world events demonstrate the fragility of long-distance supply chains transiting multiple zones of conflict. The U.S. military is currently drawing down supplies of key munitions and other electronic systems at unprecedented rates.1Every one of those systems is powered by printed circuit boards. The American PCB industry has kept pace with peacetime demand for the defense industry, but will now be called upon to increase production to a wartime footing at rates not seen in decades.
