Aircraft designer Burt Rutan was the keynote speaker during IPC APEX EXPO 2020 in San Diego, California. Burt has been responsible for some of the biggest innovations in the history of heavier-than-air flight.
In this video clip from his presentation, Rutan discusses some of his aircraft’s revolutionary flights that drew the most public attention, including SpaceShipOne, which flew three of the five manned space flights launched by man in 2004. He also explains the benefits of working with Microsoft’s Paul Allen, who agreed to fund SpaceShipOne based on a simple handshake.
Technical Editor Pete Starkey was there to cover this very entertaining speech. To read Pete’s article, which appears in the 2020 edition of Real Time with...IPC Show & Tell Magazine, click here.
