JAVAD EMS Sourcing of Machined Parts from Vietnam Expected to Double in 2020
March 9, 2020 | JAVAD EMSEstimated reading time: 1 minute
JAVAD EMS, a leading global EMS company that provides low to medium volume, high-mix applications, announced plans to double its spending in Vietnam to more than $1 million in 2020. With the ongoing uncertainty relative to the tariffs with China and the emergence of Vietnam as a viable source for procuring custom machined metal and plastic parts, JEMS has continued to move more products to Vietnam, where possible.
JEMS began procuring parts in Vietnam in 2017 to offer more competitive pricing and very quick turns on even some of its smaller projects, including prototypes. This has continued to grow over the years with new customer requirements for high precision machine parts and the ability to offer cost benefits without any compromise to quality.
Gary Walker, Vice President of JEMS stated: “Our suppliers in VN have been excellent in meeting our needs both from a quality perspective as well as quick turns on some very high precision parts. They are more cost effective than China without the need to worry about tariffs. We primarily source machined parts but we have recently started to qualify metal fabricators as well, and are hoping to support some of our networking customers with these types of parts in the future.”
JEMS’ manufacturing lines are highly flexible, allowing for diverse and complex products using the latest in component packaging technologies to be assembled and with quick changeover between products, enabling high-mix, low to medium volume production. The company has more than 40,000 ft.2 of manufacturing space that it continually updates to the highest standards of electronic manufacturing services, communication, client support, employee comfort, and training.
