Kurtz Ersa Inaugurates New Production Hall
June 29, 2020 | Kurtz ErsaEstimated reading time: 2 minutes

In the “Gold” room, Kurtz Ersa CEO Rainer Kurtz welcomed around 60 guests from politics and business as well as shareholders and employees of the company to the inauguration ceremony of the new production and administration building in Bestenheid. After around 24 months of construction and furnishing, the new building, which offers around 4,500 m2 of space, was officially opened on June 24th.
The investment for the construction, including fixtures and fittings, amounted to around 11 million Euro. In the new hall, mainly selective and wave soldering machines, stencil printers and reflow systems are assembled on two lines. The company thus offers its customers from the international electronics industry an extensive product and service package for their electronics production. As a technology provider for many sustainable products, Kurtz Ersa supports its customers with tailor-made complete solutions, especially in the field of megatrends such as electromobility and 5G communication.
In his speech, Rainer Kurtz informed the guests about the extremely positive development of Ersa GmbH, which has been based in Bestenheid since 1961 and has developed rapidly over the past 25 years. CEO Kurtz was confident about the current situation and gave an optimistic outlook: “We see strong long-term growth prospects for Ersa and are pleased that we were even able to acquire another site here. We stand by the Bestenheid site,” emphasized CEO Rainer Kurtz.
Ralph Knecht, Managing Director of Ersa GmbH, thanked the shareholders for the investments made and emphasized the high level of customer proximity as an important factor in Ersa´s success. “When planning the building and optimizing the processes, the customer was always the focus of attention. The new building will enable even shorter delivery times while maintaining the same high quality, and will also provide a customer center for conferences and machine acceptance tests.” In his speech, he also referred to the new cycle production in the assembly area and emphasized the great importance of Industry 4.0 processes for Ersa´s production system. “In 2021 Ersa GmbH will celebrate its 100th anniversary. The new hall is a sustainable investment with which we will celebrate 100 years of Ersa next year,” concluded Ralph Knecht.
Markus Herrera Torrez, Lord Mayor of Wertheim, also attended the event and congratulated on the completion of the hall. “Despite difficult times, you were able to implement your ambitious project according to plan and meet the deadline – congratulations on this precision landing! The inauguration was concluded with the handover of a symbolic key from Rainer Kurtz to Ralph Knecht and the cutting of a ribbon together.

Knocking Down the Bone Pile: Gold Mitigation for Class 2 Electronics
05/07/2025 | Nash Bell -- Column: Knocking Down the Bone PileIn electronic assemblies, the integrity of connections between components is paramount for ensuring reliability and performance. Gold embrittlement and dissolution are two critical phenomena that can compromise this integrity. Gold embrittlement occurs when gold diffuses into solder joints or alloys, resulting in mechanical brittleness and an increased susceptibility to cracking. Conversely, gold dissolution involves the melting away of gold into solder or metal matrices, potentially altering the electrical and mechanical properties of the joint.
