Lenovo Expands Global Manufacturing in Hungary

Lenovo has announced plans to open a new in-house manufacturing facility in Hungary in Spring 2021. Based in Ullo, the new in-house facility will manufacture products across Lenovo’s portfolio, including desktops, workstations and data center products. The investment from Lenovo represents significant economic potential for both the private and public sectors in Hungary, with increased production capacity, greater potential for collaboration with local vendors and the creation of new job openings at the site.
More widely the move forms part of Lenovo’s global manufacturing and supply chain strategy that serves customers in 180 markets from 30+ manufacturing sites around the world – including Argentina, Brazil, China, Germany, Hungary, India, Japan, Mexico and the USA.
Guan Wei, Lenovo Senior Vice President and Head of the Global Supply Chain, commented: “This is an important milestone in our global manufacturing network optimization and evolution, and I’m delighted to build on our existing presence in Hungary so that we can better serve our European customers with a new in-house facility. Lenovo’s global success has been built on our core competence of a global manufacturing footprint and operational excellence and we look forward to our new facility in Hungary contributing to that even further.”
Anita Lukacs, Lenovo country manager for Hungary added: “Hungary remains a well-connected location at the heart of Europe that’s close to many commercial hubs, meaning we can fulfil customers’ orders more quickly and be more efficient with our transportation and delivery times. As our business continues to grow around the world, the new facility will play a key role in how we fulfil and service customer needs in Europe and how we showcase our world-class manufacturing capabilities to customers.”
