May 2022 Issue of SMT007 Magazine Available Now
May 2, 2022 | I-Connect007 Editorial TeamEstimated reading time: Less than a minute

For our May issue of SMT007 Magazine, we wanted to learn more about the challenges for high-mix, low-volume EMS firms building high density boards, and how they’re coping with those challenges. What we learned was that the high-density challenges, per se, were actually few and far between. What has been causing new headaches, however, is component packaging because of the unpredictability in the supply chain.
We look at new capabilities available to on-floor best practices, and how new best practices are likely to influence equipment design.

It’s Only Common Sense: The Danger of Overthinking
03/24/2025 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common SenseWe’ve all had those moments when we find ourselves endlessly analyzing a decision, cycling through every possible outcome, and trying to anticipate every potential obstacle. It’s not just frustrating; it’s paralyzing. Overthinking is a timewaster, a progress-stopper, and a productivity killer. For many of us, it’s become a habit that keeps us from reaching our full potential.
Defense Speak Interpreted: It’s Time for a ‘Defense-Speak’ Update
03/18/2025 | Dennis Fritz -- Column: Defense Speak InterpretedI’m Denny Fritz, the author of 30 “Defense Speak Interpreted” columns from 2018 to 2022. My original concept for this monthly op-ed was to explain the unique acronym language used by the U.S. Defense Department: CMMC, DIUx, C4ISR, JEDI, etc. When I started consulting for NSWV Crane almost 20 years ago, I would find myself sitting in meetings, perplexed at what I heard. Half the conversations were using acronyms that were foreign to me.
Marcy's Musings: The Golden Touch?
03/18/2025 | Marcy LaRont -- Column: Marcy's MusingsCorrosion, adhesion, bonding—the comprehensive issue of surface finish plating is primary for PCB manufacturers and their assembly counterparts. Gold is the standard for many applications, but it is expensive and has its limits. This issue of PCB007 Magazine leads with a deep dive into the various iterations of gold plating by the engineering team at MKS Atotech.
It’s Only Common Sense: Why Building a Strong Personal Brand Is Critical
03/17/2025 | Dan Beaulieu -- Column: It's Only Common Sense“Your reputation precedes you.” This is one of those clichés that happens to be entirely true. Whether you’re stepping into a room full of potential clients, meeting a new colleague for the first time, or connecting online, people often know something about you before you say a word. That “something” is your personal brand—your reputation, your promise, and your legacy all rolled into one. In today’s competitive world, your personal brand is one of the most powerful assets you can cultivate.
IMAPS and DPC: 21 Years of Elevating Technical Knowledge
03/13/2025 | Marcy LaRont, I-Connect007The IMAPS 21st Device Packaging Conference (DPC) may have taken place at a conference center located down an idyllic desert road showcasing the best of what native Arizona has to offer, but the topics at this conference were anything but laid-back. This important platform for professionals in microelectronics and advanced packaging set the stage for a technology in high demand. Brian Schieman, IMAPS executive director, says the show was organized to demonstrate their commitment to addressing current technological trends and with significant energy directed toward fostering connections within the supply chain.
