Absolute EMS Uses South-Tek's Nitrogen Generator to Guarantee High-Quality Components
May 16, 2022 | Absolute EMS, Inc.Estimated reading time: 1 minute

Absolute EMS, Inc., a leading provider of turnkey and consignment manufacturing services, is pleased to announce that it utilizes the South-Tek Systems 350S Nitrogen Generator to manufacture its own nitrogen. While this is an added cost, the company knows it makes a significant difference on the solder joints, especially during assembly of N2GEN miniature components.
Absolute EMS manufactures its nitrogen with the N2GEN and has it pumped into the ovens, wave solder and selective solder systems in its facility. Nitrogen in ovens keeps oxygen away during reflow. This helps in creating superior solder joints, which is especially valuable on 0.3 mm BGAs and micro assembly.
David Godinez, Engineering Manager, stated: “Absolute EMS is known for quality and our 4.0 state-of-the-art factory. We have a responsibility to our customers to ensure even the most challenging designs are addressed with intense engineering collaboration and sophistication. As the population and miniaturization of the PCB board in SMT assembly process, Nitrogen filled SMT reflow ovens provide a better solder quality and higher yielding product. Our customers appreciate that Nitrogen reflow prevents oxidation, improves soldering wetting and reduces the possibility of solder balls and solder bridging. This all contributes to the high quality product our customers have become accustom to experiencing.”
The N2GEN series of PSA nitrogen generators are designed to produce a wide range of flow rates at nitrogen purities of 95 percent up to 99.999 percent. All units are custom designed and can be packaged with a dedicated air compressor, dryer and/or booster if needed for a complete turnkey solution. For larger flow rates or redundancy, duplexing options are available.
Absolute EMS is a leader in end-to-end electronic manufacturing services solutions that help its customers rapidly introduce innovative new technology by facilitating speed-to-market in their marketplace. Speed-to-market starts with engineering services, and extends into prototypes, pilots and then into production.

Knocking Down the Bone Pile: Revamp Your Components with BGA Reballing
10/14/2025 | Nash Bell -- Column: Knocking Down the Bone PileBall grid array (BGA) components evolved from pin grid array (PGA) devices, carrying over many of the same electrical benefits while introducing a more compact and efficient interconnect format. Instead of discrete leads, BGAs rely on solder balls on the underside of the package to connect to the PCB. In some advanced designs, solder balls are on both the PCB and the BGA package. In stacked configurations, such as package-on-package (PoP), these solder balls also interconnect multiple packages, enabling higher functionality in a smaller footprint.
