Universal Instruments Now a Proud Member of Delta Electronics’ Industrial Automation Business Group

US-based electronics manufacturing solutions provider Universal Instruments Corporation announced the completion of the company’s acquisition by Delta Electronics, Inc., a global leading provider of smart energy-saving solutions for e-mobility, ICT and energy infrastructure, as well as for smart buildings and factories. With more than 50 years developing its core competence in high-efficiency power electronics and with sales, R&D and manufacturing capabilities spread over 5 continents, Delta’s Industrial Automation Business Group offers a broad spectrum of industrial automation products and solutions that serve a myriad of industries, including electronics manufacturing. Universal boasts a 100-year history and specializes in providing precision automation solutions for advanced high-accuracy, multi-process applications for semiconductor and electronics assembly.
The cooperation is expected to generate substantial benefits by leveraging both companies’ R&D and global customer base to offer comprehensive, progressive smart manufacturing capabilities for the electronics industry. Universal will continue to operate under its existing management team as a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta.
Jean-Luc Pelissier, Universal’s chief executive officer, notes that the partnership will greatly strengthen Universal’s market position in the USA and worldwide, enabling the company to accelerate its growth ambitions. “Delta has been a long-term customer partner of Universal Instruments, and we are privileged to now be part of the Delta family,” says Pelissier. “Delta’s global scale and footprint, smart manufacturing prowess, and deep understanding of electronics automation needs, fully supports our technology development and growth strategy. This unique combination will expand our scalability, improve our global reach, and also complement our supply chain and manufacturing footprint, thereby greatly benefiting all our customers.”
Based in Conklin, NY, Universal Instruments is an industry pioneer with a lineage of innovations that have led to more than 500 technology patents and close to 30,000 systems delivered to date. From making printed circuit board insertion equipment for IBM in the 1960s, Universal has evolved to offer comprehensive advanced semiconductor packaging, precision automation, and PCB assembly solutions, backed by the mature process expertise of its Advanced Process Lab.
