Current IssueIn Pursuit of Perfection: Defect Reduction
For bare PCB board fabrication, defect reduction is a critical aspect of a company's bottom line profitability. In this issue, we examine how imaging, etching, and plating processes can provide information and insight into reducing defects and increasing yields.
Voices of the Industry
We take the pulse of the PCB industry by sharing insights from leading fabricators and suppliers in this month's issue. We've gathered their thoughts on the new U.S. administration, spending, the war in Ukraine, and their most pressing needs. It’s an eye-opening and enlightening look behind the curtain.
The Essential Guide to Surface Finishes
We go back to basics this month with a recount of a little history, and look forward to addressing the many challenges that high density, high frequency, adhesion, SI, and corrosion concerns for harsh environments bring to the fore. We compare and contrast surface finishes by type and application, take a hard look at the many iterations of gold plating, and address palladium as a surface finish.

AT&S Brings High-Tech to the Museumsquartier
May 6, 2024 | AT&SEstimated reading time: 1 minute

AT&S, as a “MQ goes Green” partner, has prepared special highlights for the occasion: Visitors aged eight and above can embark on an interactive journey through the fascinating world of microelectronics. They will discover what happens inside a smartphone, experience what it is like to work in a cleanroom, and observe tiny electronic components under a microscope at the AT&S stations.
Using VR glasses, visitors can virtually explore the inner workings of a smartphone and witness the complexity of modern data processing systems. The electronic components used must be incredibly small to fit into our pockets, much thinner than a human hair. Visitors can see these otherwise invisible structures on the high-tech components through a powerful microscope. Achieving such fine circuitry requires precise and clean work from microelectronics manufacturers. AT&S experts at the Museumsquartier will explain what this means for workers: many products can only be manufactured in cleanrooms that are practically dust-free. Visitors to the AT&S stations can get a sense of working in this highly purified environment by donning real cleanroom suits and learning all about one of the cleanest production facilities in the world, currently being completed by AT&S in Leoben.
Unforgettable impressions and lasting memories
To ensure that visitors take home not only beautiful memories and new knowledge, they are invited to create individual souvenirs from electronic components at the AT&S booth. Together with the AT&S team, they can color circuit board cities and create jewelry from printed circuit boards. Our on-site experts look forward to exciting questions, enthusiastic creators, and amazed faces. In addition to AT&S’s interactive microelectronics show, visitors to the “KinderKulturParcours” throughout the Museumsquartier can explore many other interesting offerings, from museum exhibitions to various games and culinary delights in the gastronomy establishments.
AT&S wishes all children and their accompanying adults a lot of fun exploring the colorful world of the Museumsquartier.
