Counterfeit Concerns
The distribution of counterfeit parts has become much more sophisticated in the past decade, and there's no reason to believe that trend is going to be stopping any time soon. What might crop up in the near future?
Solder Printing
In this issue, we turn a discerning eye to solder paste printing. As apertures shrink, and the requirement for multiple thicknesses of paste on the same board becomes more commonplace, consistently and accurately applying paste becomes ever more challenging.

Altus Introduces Robotic Conformal Coating/Dispensing System to Enhance Manufacturing Efficiency
June 14, 2024 | Altus GroupEstimated reading time: 1 minute
Altus Group, a leading distributor of production equipment in the UK and Ireland, addresses the need for increased efficiency and reduced labour in electronics manufacturing with the introduction of the Delta 6 robotic conformal coating/dispensing system from PVA.
Electronics manufacturers facing highly labour-intensive processes such as masking components and hand spraying conformal coatings can address that burden with an automated solution. It is clear that manufacturers in the UK & Ireland are grappling with a shortage of available highly skilled labour to support these processes, and sees the PVA Delta 6 a great solution to assist in streamlining processes and improving efficiency.
Joe Booth, CEO of Altus Group said: "Many manufacturers rely on traditional manual methods that are extremely labour-intensive and can lead to inconsistencies. The Delta 6 provides an automated alternative, allowing these critical coating and dispensing processes to be brought in-house with minimal labour while ensuring high repeatability."
The PVA Delta 6 features a three-axis motion platform with servo-controlled motion featuring valve tilt and rotate. Designed for selective coating, potting, bead dispensing, and meter-mix dispensing in both inline and batch production environments, it offers high accuracy, consistent process control across the gantry system, and the ability to handle multiple applications or materials.
"For manufacturers looking to improve efficiency and cut costs, automating labour-intensive processes is crucial," said Joe. "The Delta 6's flexibility, small footprint, robust construction, and versatile programming make it an ideal solution to reduce labour demands."

Boosting China's Regions
02/08/2016 | HSBCChina’s recent woes – decelerating growth, falling currency, plunging stock market – suggest that the world’s main growth engine is spluttering. For some, it’s all very reminiscent of Japan in the early-1990s: a boom followed by a prolonged bust against a less-than-helpful demographic backdrop.

China: Rise of the Robots
07/08/2015 | HSBCChina overtook Japan in 2013 to become the world’s largest market for industrial robots and a 53 per cent jump in domestic sales last year means the country now accounts for a quarter of the global market. But we believe this is only the beginning, given the low use of robots in China’s production plants.
