Pricer AB is pleased to announce its participation in the SELECT (Sustainable Electronics for Energy Harvesting Applications) project, which has received funding through the Eurostars program, the largest international funding program for SMEs collaborating on R&D projects.
This collaborative initiative brings together leading innovators from across Europe to develop a scalable platform for energy harvesting technologies, aimed at reducing the environmental impact of electronic devices.
As a key partner in the SELECT project, Pricer is focused on pioneering the development of batteryless electronic shelf labels (ESLs). By leveraging energy harvesting technologies, these ESLs are designed to operate without traditional batteries, drawing power from indoor ambient light. This advancement will contribute to a more sustainable retail environment, reducing the need for battery replacements and minimizing electronic waste.
Pricer’s role in the project aligns with its long-standing commitment to innovation and sustainability in the retail sector. By collaborating with leading sustainability-focused partners, Pricer aims to contribute to creating environmentally friendly, cost-effective solutions that meet the growing demand for sustainable electronics.
“We are excited to be part of the SELECT project and to work alongside some of Europe’s top innovators in this field,” said Chris Chalkitis, Chief Digital Officer at Pricer. “This project represents a significant step forward in our efforts to develop sustainable, energy-efficient solutions for our customers. We believe that the advancements made through this collaboration will have a lasting positive impact on both the environment and the retail industry.”
The SELECT project will focus on integrating various cutting-edge technologies, including ultra-low-power microcontrollers (ONiO), photovoltaics (Epishine), eco-friendly supercapacitors (Ligna Energy), and fully recyclable and biodegradable PCB laminates (Jiva Materials). The goal is to create a versatile platform that can be applied to a wide range of IoT and small electronics applications, starting with Pricer’s ESLs and next-generation remote controls from 4MOD Technology.
