The real cost to manufacture a PCB encompasses everything that goes into making the product: the materials and other value-added supplies, machine and personnel costs, and most importantly, your quality. A hard look at real costs seems wholly appropriate.
Alternate Metallization Processes
Traditional electroless copper and electroless copper immersion gold have been primary PCB plating methods for decades. But alternative plating metals and processes have been introduced over the past few years as miniaturization and advanced packaging continue to develop.

November 2024 SMT007 Magazine: The Rise of Data
November 4, 2024 | I-Connect007 Editorial TeamEstimated reading time: Less than a minute
The Rise of Data
At IPC APEX EXPO 2024 in April, we spoke with several EMS data analytics providers about the work they’ve been doing. Several months later, we’ve followed up to see how things have progressed.
Data analytics, dashboards, and AI agents are not here to take over, but to assist. Just as we still need pilots to land the plane or step in when automated systems go out, we still need process experts to assess the data from the floor and intervene when necessary.
We learned that the data analytics experts in our field are making rapid advances toward the ideal of expert systems on the shop floor. Join us as we get the updates and what that means for the future (and the now) of electronics manufacturing.
Learn more in this month’s issue of SMT007 Magazine.
