L3Harris Achieves UK Defence Employer Recognition Award
November 21, 2024 | L3Harris TechnologiesEstimated reading time: 1 minute
L3Harris Technologies has achieved Silver Award status in the U.K.’s Defence Employer Recognition Scheme, a coveted acknowledgement of the company’s commitment to and support for the Armed Forces community, aligned to the values of the country’s Armed Forces Covenant.
This achievement builds on the business’s previous Bronze Award status, marking its continued support for reservists, veterans, cadets, diverse groups and families within the workforce.
“L3Harris is a major defence employer in the U.K., and this award reaffirms our commitment to our employees and the broader defence community as part of the Armed Forces Covenant,” said Graeme Mackay, Vice President, U.K. Operations, L3Harris. “We place an extremely high value on the specialist skills and unique perspective ex-military personnel bring to L3Harris, as well as the contributions of our employees and their families to the defence of our nation.”
Examples of L3Harris contributions include:
- Actively recruiting reservists and veterans and providing paid leave for annual training.
- Maintaining a Supporting Emergency Responders and Veterans Engagement employee resource group.
- Supporting the Team Forces charity and its work with the defence community through the power of sport, challenge and adventure.
- Supporting key defence organisations such as the Soldiers’, Sailors’ & Airmen’s Families Association and Combat Stress.
- Organising bespoke fundraising events for causes related to the armed forces.
- Holding memorial services to remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.
The Defence Employer Recognition Scheme (ERS) encourages U.K. employers to support defence and inspire others to do the same. The scheme encompasses bronze, silver and gold awards for organisations that pledge, demonstrate or advocate support for defence and the armed forces community and align their values with the U.K. Armed Forces Covenant.
