VDMA Machine Vision Elects New Board; Appoints Olaf Munkelt as Chairman
November 26, 2024 | VDMAEstimated reading time: 1 minute

Within the context of the members' assembly of the VDMA Robotics + Automation Association, the members of the VDMA Machine Vision division elected a new Board. Olaf Munkelt, Co-founder and Managing Director of MVTec Software GmbH, was subsequently appointed Chairman by the newly elected VDMA Machine Vision Board. Olaf Munkelt succeeds Mark Williamson, former CEO of STEMMER Imaging Ltd., Tongham, Surrey, UK, whose term ended. Mark was honored for his contributions and dedicated service to the European machine vision industry.
“As many sectors, the European machine vision industry is currently facing many challenges: a weak economy throughout Europe, geopolitical challenges, uncertainties in many customer industries, weak demand and increasing competition. Despite all these challenges, there is high interest in machine vision technology around the globe, and I see many opportunities for the European machine vision industry. Machine vision is key for securing the competitiveness of the European manufacturing industry, and a key technology in the trend towards digitalization." said Olaf after his election.
"Our thanks go to the former Chairman, Mark Williamson, who during his nine years on the Board of VDMA Machine Vision - including the last three years as Chairman - has achieved many things for the industry with a great deal of commitment.”
