TiVo, a wholly-owned subsidiary of entertainment technology company Xperi Inc., announced that it will be entering the U.S. television market with Sharp Home Electronics Company of America, marking a key milestone of the continued expansion of smart TVs Powered by TiVo™.
Already available in Europe, TiVo OS™ has 8 partners, such as Sharp Europe, to introduce its smart TVs Powered by TiVo with over 33 brands including Bush, Daewoo, Digihome, Panasonic, Sharp, Telefunken, and Vestel.
The Sharp Smart TV Powered by TiVo will be the first television in the series to be made available to American consumers, as soon as February 2025. Boasting a beautiful Ultra High Definition and High Dynamic Range 55” QLED screen, plus Dolby Atmos®, and 3 HDMI ports, it will be a smart TV that reinforces Sharp’s reputation for quality.
The award-winning TiVo OS platform seeks to transform the smart TV landscape with its intuitive and comprehensive approach to content management and discovery. The platform seamlessly aggregates content from various streaming services, linear TV channels and sports content, allowing consumers to organize and access their favorite shows, movies, and live events in a single user interface. TiVo OS supports a wide range of popular streaming services, providing consumers with access to a vast library of free and paid content.
One of the standout features of TiVo OS is its advanced search and recommendation capabilities. Powered by sophisticated algorithms that learn from individual viewing habits, the platform provides personalized suggestions tailored to each user's unique preferences. This content-first approach helps to ensure that consumers are consistently presented with content that aligns with their tastes, making it effortless to discover and enjoy new entertainment.
TiVo OS also offers natural voice navigation for select smart TV models. Consumers can easily search for and access their desired content by issuing simple voice commands, reducing content churn and eliminating the need for complex remote-control interactions.
“Partnering with Sharp to introduce smart TVs Powered by TiVo in the U.S. represents a significant milestone for us,” said Ben Maughan, general manager of smart TV and media platform for Xperi. “Our deep understanding of viewer needs and behaviors has allowed us to develop a platform that elevates the TV experience by making it more intuitive. We’re excited to bring an enhanced TV experience to Sharp’s consumers in America.”
“We have partnered with TiVo to provide a truly independent platform that allows our consumers to find, watch and enjoy content easily,” said Jim Sanduski, President of Sharp Home Electronics Company of America. “As we look to gain more foothold in the U.S. television market, partnering with credible and trustworthy businesses such as TiVo to provide an experience that aligns with our consumers needs, is crucial. TiVo’s unbiased, personalized and content-first approach is exactly the type of operating system our consumers are looking for.”
