Jaltek Design Shortlisted for The Engineer’s Collaborate to Innovate Awards

Jaltek Design are delighted to have been shortlisted for The Engineer’s Collaborate to Innovate Awards. Now in its ninth year, Collaborate to Innovate (C2I) was launched to uncover and celebrate great examples of engineering collaboration – a dynamic considered critical to solving many of the challenges and problems faced by society.
The Awards span nine categories - including energy & environment, aerospace & defence, automotive, manufacturing, data, and healthcare technology.
Alongside Space Solar, International Electric Company Limited, Queens University Belfast and WaveRF, Jaltek Design has been nominated in the ‘Energy and Environment’ Category for their involvement in the HARRIER project - working towards constant beamed energy from Space.
The aim is to power more than a million homes by the 2030s with a mile-wide complex of mirrors and solar panels orbiting 22,000 miles above the plane. HARRIER was the World’s first prototype, which successfully demonstrated the technology required to achieve this - using 360-degree beam steering capability with no moving parts - potentially paving the way to a constant supply of energy, from space

Most notably, the C2I Awards celebrate collaboration, and the team behind Harrier was made up of a consortium of talented companies with a shared vision to revolutionise clean energy, accelerate the transition to Net Zero and provide energy equity. The competition will be judged by a prestigious panel of leading UK engineers and the ultimate winners will be revealed at a special party in London on the evening of Thursday 27th February 2025.
