MVTec, Pepperl+Fuchs Enter into Technology Partnership
March 27, 2025 | MVTecEstimated reading time: 3 minutes
MVTec Software GmbH and Pepperl+Fuchs are stepping up their technological collaboration in the field of machine vision. As part of this, Pepperl+Fuchs joined the MVTec Technology Partner program at the beginning of 2025.
The objective of the collaboration is to make it even easier to combine the products of Pepperl+Fuchs, a leading supplier of industrial sensor technology for factory automation, and MVTec, a technology leader in the manufacture of machine vision software.
To this end, the two companies intend to work together in the future to advance the development of industry standards and generic programming interfaces such as GenICam.
"We are delighted to have attracted such a well-known sensor manufacturer as Pepperl+Fuchs to the MVTec Technology Partner program. As a hardware-independent provider of machine vision software, we strive to make it as easy as possible for our customers to combine our software with the best possible hardware components. Pepperl+Fuchs is a perfect partner in this respect, given that the company is represented in markets almost identical to ours. We also cover similar technologies, such as 3D vision," explains Roman Moie, Product Owner at MVTec.
Dr. Tim Weis, Global Product Manager at Pepperl+Fuchs, adds: "MVTec’s machine vision software products are a perfect complement to our vision sensors. Thanks to this combination, a wide range of applications can be implemented in a simple, robust, and cost-effective manner. We look forward to working together."
Added value for customers, thanks to the seamless combination of sensors and machine vision software
The primary beneficiaries of the technology partnership are the customers of both companies. They benefit from the fact that the powerful products from MVTec and Pepperl+Fuchs can now be combined even more easily to meet their specific needs. In addition, users can now easily access the relevant customer service for their specific application.
The Pepperl+Fuchs product range contains the powerful and cost-effective SmartRunner Explorer 2-D/3-D series. This includes 3-D sensors with stereo vision and time-of-flight (ToF) as well as laser profile sensors with laser light section technology. With its two technologies, the SmartRunner Explorer 3-D offers the option of a 3-D point cloud and 2-D image data with a recording of both static and dynamic scenes. The SmartRunner Explorer laser profile sensor provides the innovative combination of height profile and 2-D image data output in one sensor. All SmartRunner sensors can be connected easily to industrial PCs via the integrated TCP/IP interface. Thanks to the existing GenICam interface and the associated connection to HALCON, many detection and measurement tasks can be implemented easily and with high performance.
MVTec develops and offers the following machine vision software products: MVTec HALCON, the comprehensive standard software for machine vision. MVTec MERLIC combines reliability and speed with first-class ease of use. It can be used to create complete machine vision applications. In addition, the Deep Learning Tool makes it easy to label image data for MVTec's deep learning methods and prepare that data for neural network training.
The MVTec Technology Partner program advances the usability of machine vision
Machine vision is a hidden champion of automation. The technology enables the automation of a wide range of tasks. In addition, deep learning technologies make it possible to automate entirely new applications and execute existing ones more robustly. Industry standards and uniform interfaces ensure that users can select exactly the components they need for their application. The stated goal of the MVTec Technology Partner program is to promote interoperability between the products of its members. It is a joint initiative to promote strategic partnerships with innovative technology providers from various industries.
