Foxconn Joins Hands with 30 Suppliers to Reduce Carbon Emissions by 15,000 Tons in Two Years
April 9, 2025 | FoxconnEstimated reading time: 4 minutes
Hon Hai Technology Group, the world’s largest technology manufacturer and service provider, has participated in climate actions such as CA100+ and RE100 in recent years and pledged to achieve net zero emissions by 2050. In addition to reducing its own carbon emissions, the company is also actively leading the industry chain to jointly reduce carbon emissions. Under the "Foxconn Low-Carbon Supply Chain Transformation Promotion Plan" of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industrial Development Agency, the company assisted seven Foxconn Tier -1 supply chain partners in energy conservation and carbon reduction, and led 23 Tier-2 suppliers to introduce digital management platforms and carbon inventory tools.
In September 2023 , Foxconn held its first "Supplier Low Carbon Kick-off Conference" at its Tucheng headquarters in New Taipei City, declaring its determination to promote a green and sustainable path. During the two-year implementation period, a team of experts was formed to visit suppliers on-site to exchange ideas on energy-saving and carbon-reduction projects, provide energy-saving diagnosis, and set goals for regular tracking.
The promotion plan started in April 2023 , with the expected goal of reducing carbon emissions by 10,000 tons of CO2e in two years . With the in - depth cooperation between Foxconn and its supply chain partners, 25 carbon reduction projects such as factory carbon reduction and process optimization were promoted. By March 2025 , the total carbon reduction will far exceed the original target, reaching 15,000 tons of CO2e , which is equivalent to the annual carbon dioxide absorption of 75 Daan Forest Parks.
Hon Hai Technology Group Environmental Protection Director Hung Wing-chung said, "In order to continue to promote Hon Hai's philosophy of 'sustainable management = EPS + ESG ', we play the role of a leader through the 'big leading the small' model, combining 30 like-minded supply chain partners. After two years of cooperation, we have created results that are 50% more than the original carbon reduction target ; at the same time, Hon Hai will also provide the supply chain with channels to obtain green electricity through the Green Energy Fund in the future. We hope to continue to implement the low-carbon supply chain cooperation model and promote it to Hon Hai's global supply chain to promote industrial transformation and upgrading."
In order to enhance the overall environmental protection and carbon reduction awareness within the company and the supply chain, Foxconn has organized a total of 10 internal and external training courses in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industrial Development Administration, including topics such as carbon pricing, ISO series courses, the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM ), green electricity and green energy funds. At the same time, in order to promote supply chain exchanges and expand good results Best Practice to the supply chain under the concept of "sharing, cooperation, and common prosperity" , Foxconn has specially held 3 supplier carbon reduction results conferences. In addition to Foxconn sharing its own net zero carbon reduction experience, it also specially invited supply chain partners who have successfully promoted carbon reduction projects to share their implementation results.
Recently, Foxconn held a sharing and exchange meeting on-site and online at the Huyue Factory of its Tucheng headquarters, bringing together 30 suppliers participating in the project. Foxconn first summarized and shared the overall results of the project, and invited Huakang to share the Huyue headquarters air conditioning energy-saving improvement project in cooperation with Foxconn's general affairs team. This project can save 11% energy per year and save about NT $ 2.3 million in electricity bills through the construction of an intelligent monitoring system and energy management integration platform . Through case sharing, it is suggested that the supply chain can introduce appropriate improvement plans based on the operating conditions of their factory equipment, air-conditioning systems and factory operation needs to achieve energy conservation and carbon reduction goals. Finally, in line with the plan’s concept of leading the small with the big, the group’s investment unit shared Hon Hai’s experience in green energy investment and provided the supply chain with channels to obtain green electricity through the Green Energy Fund.
The "Hon Hai Low-carbon Supply Chain Transformation Promotion Plan" is a pilot program to promote carbon reduction in the supply chain. In the future, Hon Hai will continue to promote low-carbon transformation to the global supply chain. At the same time, it will also sign a memorandum of cooperation with the Taiwan Net Zero Emissions Association. Through cooperative resource sharing, it will promote low-carbon economic transformation, promote sustainable operations and technological innovation, and jointly assist in industrial upgrading and supply chain low-carbon management.
