Sypris Wins Awards to Support Subsea Cable Systems
July 29, 2025 | BUSINESS WIREEstimated reading time: Less than a minute
Sypris Electronics, LLC, a subsidiary of Sypris Solutions, Inc., announced it has secured follow-on contract awards from a leading global provider of subsea cable systems. Under the terms of the agreement, Sypris will manufacture and test electronic power supply modules, optical processing units, and branching units to support multiple high-reliability subsea communication networks. Production is currently underway and is expected to continue through 2026. Specific terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The awarded contracts involve the production of advanced electronic assemblies designed for use in scalable, ultra-long-haul subsea networks. As global demand for digital services and data consumption continues to surge, these high-capacity systems play a critical role in providing seamless connectivity to major global internet exchange points and content delivery hubs. These next-generation subsea systems are engineered to span thousands of kilometers beneath the ocean’s surface, ensuring robust and reliable data transmission between continents.
“The subsea electronics sector is a strong fit with our strategic focus on mission-critical applications,” said Mike Sedgwick, Vice President and General Manager of Sypris Electronics. “We’re proud to support a global leader in subsea telecommunications infrastructure, and to expand our collaboration through this important award.”
