We regret to announce that Walt Custer passed away on Aug. 30, 2025. He was 81. Walt’s son, Jonathan, shared the following:
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
I am in complete shock that my dad, Walt Custer, is gone, and I am comforted that he died peacefully at 81 years old.
Walt built CCG from the ground up 26 years ago, guided by his passion, hard work, and commitment to the printed circuit board community. His dedication not only established our company, but he frequently shared his experience as a chemist and industry executive veteran to provide market insights as an analyst, an avid speaker, a magazine columnist, a board and committee member and a data contributor for the electronics manufacturing community. In 1990, he received the IPC President's award and in 2001, he was honored with the Raymond E. Pritchard Hall of Fame award.
Beyond his many professional accomplishments, my father will be remembered for his generosity, foresight and tireless dedication to provide an understanding of how business and economic cycles affect the supply chain.
He often told me how much he loved his life and thoroughly enjoyed his family, photography, traveling, basketball, and his commitment to make the world a better place.
As many of you know, I have been leading Custer Consulting Group over the past five years, and I remain committed to carrying forward his legacy with the same values and dedication.
On behalf of our family, I want to thank you for your ongoing support of Custer Consulting Group and for honoring my father’s memory with us.
