Technica USA is actively encouraging its printed circuit assembly customers to join the Printed Circuit Board Association of America (PCBAA), a leading industry organization advocating for increased domestic production of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and substrates.
The PCBAA brings together stakeholders from across the PCB industry to promote policies in Washington, D.C., that support U.S.-based manufacturing of critical microelectronic components.
Frank Medina, Vice Chairman of Technica USA and a PCBAA member, shared his support, “The dedication and impact of the PCBAA’s staff and members are commendable. Each year, our meetings with congressional representatives show growing awareness and urgency around the need to expand PCB manufacturing in the U.S. The organization continues to do an outstanding job in educating policymakers, advocating effectively, and supporting legislation that strengthens our industry.”
A key milestone in this advocacy is the introduction of the Printed Circuit Boards and Substrates Act of 2025, championed by Representatives Blake Moore (R-UT) and Raja Krishnamoorthi (D-IL). This bipartisan bill addresses critical vulnerabilities in the domestic supply chain for trusted and secure microelectronics.
While the CHIPS Act represented a major step forward in boosting semiconductor manufacturing in the U.S., Medina emphasized that this effort is only part of the equation, “Chips must be packaged and mounted on printed circuit boards. If we manufacture chips domestically but continue to outsource PCB’s and assemblies overseas, we undermine the national security goals the CHIPS Act set out to achieve.”
He added, "Capitol Hill is inundated with voices advocating for various interests, making it essential that our industry continues to amplify its own. Technica is strategically positioned in the microelectronics ecosystem, working closely with both fabricators and assemblers. Currently, most PCBAA members represent the fabrication sector. We need greater participation from the assembly community, which is why we are proactively encouraging our customers to join the organization. A stronger, more unified voice is vital for the future of U.S. electronics manufacturing.”
