The PCB Outstanding Contribution Award Ceremony: A Grand Celebration of Excellence and Innovation
October 29, 2025 | TPCAEstimated reading time: 3 minutes
The PCB Outstanding Contribution Award Ceremony, hosted by the Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA), was held on the evening of October 22, the first day of TPCA Show 2025, at the Grand Hi-Lai Hotel Taipei. Nearly 300 guests from industry, government, academia, and research gathered to witness the glorious achievements of Taiwan’s printed circuit board (PCB) industry. This marked the first time TPCA held an awards ceremony of such a grand scale—symbolizing the association’s growth and legacy since its founding, and opening a new chapter for the industry’s sustainable development.
The ceremony was both solemn and heartwarming. It served not only as a tribute to individual excellence but also as a testament to the collective efforts of all professionals in the PCB industry. Director-General Chiu Chiu-hui of the Development Research Agency, Ministry of Economic Affairs; Senior Advisor Shen Jong-chin of the Presidential Office; PCB industry leaders; and distinguished guests from home and abroad were all in attendance, witnessing this proud and historic moment for Taiwan’s PCB industry amidst applause and celebration.
Special Contribution Award — Opening New Horizons and Leading the Future
Since its establishment in 1998, the Taiwan Printed Circuit Association (TPCA) has been dedicated to advancing industry development, strengthening international collaboration, and driving sustainable transformation. Supported by more than 2,000 volunteers and partners, the association thrives through professionalism and enthusiasm. To honor exemplary leaders whose vision and influence have profoundly shaped the industry and TPCA’s progress, the association established the Special Contribution Award to recognize those who embody innovation, leadership, and impact.
This year’s Special Contribution Award was presented to Tzu-Chang Tseng, Chairman of Unimicron Technology, and Cheng-Hsiung Chen, Director and Senior Advisor of Yaohua Electronics—both of whom previously served as TPCA Chairmen. Chairman Tseng has long championed advanced PCB manufacturing and international expansion, reshaping the industry landscape and elevating his company onto the global stage. Chairman Chen, with his forward-looking vision and pragmatic approach, spearheaded the establishment of the PCB Environmental Foundation, laying a strong foundation for the industry’s sustainable future. These two leaders exemplify responsibility, foresight, and excellence—serving as role models for sustainable development in the global PCB sector.
International Contribution Award — Deepening Connections and Creating Shared Success
In addition to honoring domestic pioneers, TPCA also established the International Outstanding Contribution Award to recognize overseas experts and partners who have long supported the advancement of Taiwan’s PCB industry. This year, four recipients from different countries were honored:
- Mr. David Thomas Baron | Atotech UK Ltd.
- Mr. Gene Howard Weiner | Weiner International Associates
- Dr. Hayao Nakahara | NT Information Ltd.
- Mr. Michio Kaida | Nidec Corporation
All four laureates are leading authorities and advocates in the global PCB industry. They have consistently supported Taiwan’s industrial development through technical exchanges, market insights, and international cooperation. Their achievements not only highlight their professional excellence but also reflect their lasting friendship and spirit of collaboration with Taiwan—ushering in a new era of shared growth and prosperity for TPCA and its global partners.
A Night of Glory — Passing the Torch to a Sustainable Future
The evening, filled with lights, applause, and pride, stood as both a celebration of achievements and a launchpad for the future. The PCB Outstanding Contribution Award Ceremony honored not only the accomplishments of individuals but also the collective progress of Taiwan’s PCB industry. It reaffirmed the industry’s shared commitment to pursuing high-value innovation, low-carbon transformation, and global integration.
TPCA remains steadfast in its mission to promote sustainable industrial growth, foster cross-sector collaboration, and advance technological innovation. Together with its partners at home and abroad, TPCA will continue leading the industry toward new heights of excellence and global recognition.
