Global Add-in Board Market: $8.8 Billion in 3Q25
December 2, 2025 | JPREstimated reading time: 1 minute
According to a new research report from the analyst firm Jon Peddie Research, the growth of the global PC-based graphics add-in board market reached 12.0 million units in Q3'25 and desktop PC CPUs shipments increased to 19.2 million units.
Overall, AIBs will have a compound annual growth rate of -0.7% from 2024 to 2029 and will reach an installed base of 152 million units by the end of the forecast period. Over the next five years, the penetration of AIBs in desktop PCs will be 120%.
As indicated in the following chart, AMD's overall AIB market share increased 0.8% from last quarter, Intel's market share increased 0.4%, and Nvidia's market share decreased -1.2%.
Total AIB shipments increased by 2.8% from the previous quarter to 12.02 million units. That was less than the historical 10-year average of 11.4% for this quarter. AIB shipments increased by 47.5%.
Q2 AIB shipments were unusually high, which we think was due to panic buying because of the pending tariff. That sapped some sales away from Q3.
- The AIB overall attach rate in desktop PCs for the quarter increased to 162%, down -0.6% from last quarter.
- The desktop PC CPU market decreased -7.6% year to year and increased 3.9% quarter to quarter.
The third quarter is traditionally down from the previous quarter. This quarter's GPU shipments were up from the 10-year average of 4.9%.
“The 2024-to-2029 CAGR for AIBs is -0.7%, which has been the trend. However, with all Influences in the market, we advise cautious optimism until the trade wars settle down and a quarter or two passes, which will give the market some stabilization,” said Dr. Jon Peddie, president of JPR. “We also have to worry about an inflation-driven recession due to the socioeconomic turmoil created by the Trump administration.”
