The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) released the following statement from President and CEO John Neuffer urging passage in the U.S. House of Representatives of the Standardizing Permitting and Expediting Economic Development (SPEED) Act of 2025, bipartisan legislation to make critical reforms to streamline environmental review under the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA). The legislation was introduced by House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Bruce Westerman (R-AR) and Rep. Jared Golden (D-ME).
“SIA is pleased to support the SPEED Act. Timely and predictable environmental reviews are essential to expanding America’s semiconductor manufacturing footprint, strengthening supply chains, reinforcing national security, and sustaining U.S. technological leadership. In addition to promoting U.S. leadership in chip technology, this legislation would provide timing clarity for critical infrastructure projects related to AI, advanced communications, and energy. We applaud Chairman Westerman, Rep. Golden, and the House Natural Resources Committee for their bipartisan leadership and urge Congress to pass the SPEED Act and send it to the President’s desk.”
