Foxconn Technology Group has reached a new milestone in its investment in Taiwan. It held a signing ceremony with the Kaohsiung City Government at the City Hall Plaza for the "Kaohsiung MRT Y15 Land Development Project," officially announcing that this record-breaking MRT joint development project, with a total investment of NT$ 15.9 billion, will enter its next phase. Foxconn will promote Kaohsiung as a key verification site for its "Three Smart Platforms" —Smart Manufacturing, Smart EV , and Smart City—while also engaging in social welfare, proposing medical care, scholarships, and AI education programs to lay the foundation for sustainable local development.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai and Foxconn Technology Group Rotating CEO Yang Chiu-chin, who signed the agreement on behalf of their respective companies, officially revealing the development timeline. The Kaohsiung Y15 joint development project is expected to commence construction in 2027 and be completed in 2033. The overall development comprises two buildings: a technology R&D office building and a mixed-use retail and residential space, with a total site area of 11,350 square meters.
Kaohsiung Mayor Chen Chi-mai stated, "Foxconn's continued commitment to investing in Kaohsiung and Taiwan is commendable. This joint development project, with a total investment of NT$ 15.9 billion, combined with Foxconn's innovative technology, will undoubtedly create diverse spatial experiences for citizens, drive industrial upgrading in the Asia Bay area, and create nearly 2,000 job opportunities. Kaohsiung City will continue to maintain a close relationship with Foxconn to jointly usher in a new revolution in smart manufacturing, smart EVs , and smart cities."
Foxconn Technology Group Rotating CEO Yang Chiu-Chin stated, " The Y15 joint development project is not only a building, but also an important indicator of Foxconn's investment in Taiwan and its establishment of a foothold in Kaohsiung. Through the planning of housing that ensures employees' peace of mind, we hope to attract more high-level talents to relocate to Kaohsiung and work with the Kaohsiung City Government and partners to create a sustainable industrial chain . Kaohsiung has excellent transportation hub conditions and local marine culture, making it the best choice for Foxconn to establish its flagship headquarters in southern Taiwan ."
Foxconn's flagship headquarters in southern Taiwan is planned to be 45 stories high , reaching a height of 234 meters. Upon completion, Foxconn's smart city team, software R&D center, battery cell and energy storage R&D team, EV technology development center, and AI application software team will gradually move in . In addition, the Liankai project also includes a 32- story mixed-use building , with some floors designated as employee housing to attract high-level talent to relocate to Kaohsiung, laying the foundation for Foxconn's sustainable development in the city.
Twenty years ago, Foxconn began building its Kaohsiung Software Park, which continues to operate to this day. Its global battery center in the Ho-Fai Industrial Park has also begun mass production this year, playing a key role in the localization of Taiwan's EV industry . Foxconn's Kaohsiung Software R&D Center also officially opened its Warehouse No. 7 at Pier-2 Art Center last year. The electric bus plant in the Qiaotou Science Park is also nearing completion. Foxconn has also announced plans to build a large-scale AI advanced computing center in Kaohsiung.
Foxconn's presence and scale in Kaohsiung are constantly expanding. In order to meet the needs of talent and operations, Foxconn hopes to take advantage of this land development opportunity to build its "flagship headquarters" in southern Taiwan, connecting existing operations and production sites and helping Kaohsiung's industrial transformation.
While continuing its investment and development, Foxconn adheres to the business philosophy of "Sustainable Operation = ESP + ESG ," actively connecting with the local community and fulfilling its corporate social responsibility. At this signing ceremony, the group also announced several social responsibility initiatives, including a donation of NT $ 19 million to the Kaohsiung City Government to purchase a mobile mammography unit. The establishment of the "Foxconn Scholarship Whale" in Kaohsiung, with a total prize pool of NT$ 10 million , will be provided to academically outstanding students in Kaohsiung's elementary and junior high schools over the next seven years. Simultaneously, the Foxconn Education Foundation will also hold AI workshops and campus club promotion activities in schools at all levels in Kaohsiung , continuously nurturing future technology talent.
