James Redstone Joins SIA as Director of Government Affairs
February 26, 2026 | SIAEstimated reading time: 1 minute
The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) announced James Redstone has joined the association as director of government affairs. In this role, Redstone will work with Congress, the White House, and federal agencies to advance the industry’s policy priorities. SIA represents 99% of the U.S. semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip firms.
“Semiconductors are propelling an unprecedented era of technological progress, and sound government policies are essential to promoting continued growth and innovation in our industry and across the economy,” said John Neuffer, SIA president and CEO. “James has substantial experience advancing policies of importance to our sector, making him a strong advocate for SIA in Washington. We’re excited to welcome him to the team.”
Redstone most recently served as a professional staff member on the U.S. House Appropriations Committee’s Subcommittee on Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies. In this role, he was responsible for the allocation and oversight of annual appropriations for more than 10 federal agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR). He also oversaw the establishment of the ASPR Center for Industrial Base and Supply Chain (IBMSC) to support and sustain domestic manufacturing capabilities.
Previously, Redstone served as special assistant to the president for domestic policy during President Trump’s first term. In this role, he led the development and execution of the administration’s workforce development and education policy. Redstone received a bachelor’s degree in history and accounting from the University of Maine and a master’s degree in international affairs from American University.
“I’m thrilled to join the SIA team at such a pivotal time and to work alongside our members to shape policies that will allow the semiconductor industry to continue to thrive in the United States and strengthen America’s economy, national security, and global competitiveness,” said Redstone.
