Yank Technologies Wins U.S. Army Phase II Contract for Wireless Power in Warfighter Wearables

Yank Technologies, a leader in long-range, high-power wireless charging, has been selected for an 18-month, $2 million follow-on U.S. Army Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Phase II contract to prepare and advance wireless charging systems for warfighter wearable batteries within Department of War (DOW) military vehicles.
Currently, the U.S. Army uses wired chargers for powering warfighter wearable batteries and electronics. Wired charging solutions are prone to significant operational and reliability issues, primarily due to the wear and tear of connection terminals. Additionally, these chargers necessitate frequent swapping of Conformal Wearable Batteries (CWBs), a cumbersome task for warfighters and one that forces the U.S. Army to purchase excessive inventory. Meanwhile, conventional wireless chargers today require precise, fixed alignment and are unable to power warfighter batteries while in movement and for unpredictable positions.
Yank Technologies' novel wireless charging system addresses these challenges by seamlessly and reliably charging batteries while warfighters are within the vehicle, regardless of their posture and positioning. This innovation empowers the U.S. Army to meet mission-critical objectives by increasing battery reliability, minimizing battery swapping, expanding future capabilities of warfighter electronics, and reducing excess battery inventory.
Yank Technologies is developing a universal wireless power and data platform that is readily adaptable across multiple applications and industries, including mobility, aerospace, defense, and consumer. With over seventy patents and patents pending, the company eliminates the need for bulky and unreliable cables and connections, leading to increased durability, greater operational efficiency, and the integration of new product capabilities.
In 2025, Yank Technologies successfully completed a wireless power system that charges CWBs while being used and worn by warfighters. The system successfully delivered power even while the user's posture and positioning changed in real-time and was reviewed by Army engineers.
With this follow-on contract, Yank Technologies will advance the system from TRL-4 to TRL-6 to prepare its infusion into future U.S. Army programs and missions. The system will be integrated into a military vehicle seat and warfighter tactical vest and verified for military environmental standards.
