PC Graphics Add-In Board Shipments Drop to 11M in Q4 2025
March 6, 2026 | Jon Peddie ResearchEstimated reading time: 1 minute
According to a new research report from the analyst firm Jon Peddie Research, the growth of the global PC-based graphics add-in board market reached 11.5 million units in Q4'25, and desktop PC CPUs shipments increased to 21.0 million units.
Overall, AIBs will have a compound annual growth rate of -5.9% from 2024 to 2029 and will reach an installed base of 172 million units by the end of the forecast period. Over the next five years, the penetration of AIBs in desktop PCs will be 103%.
As indicated in the following chart, AMD's overall AIB market share decreased -1.6% from last quarter, Intel's market share was flat, and Nvidia's market share increased by 1.6%.
Total AIB shipments decreased to 11.48 from the previous quarter. That was less than the historical 10-year average of 10.82% for this quarter. AIB shipments increased by 36.0% from last year.
The quarter's AIB shipments were down, which we think was due to rising prices attributed to memory costs and the tariffs.
- The AIB overall attach rate in desktop PCs for the quarter decreased to 55%, down -12.3% from last quarter.
- The desktop PC CPU market decreased -0.7% year to year and increased 9.0% quarter to quarter.
The fourth quarter is traditionally up slightly from the previous quarter. This quarter's GPU shipments were down from the 10-year average of 4.9%.
“The AIB market, largely supported by gamers, is being squeezed from the bottom by powerful new notebooks and CPU integrated graphics, and from the high end by rising pricing due to competition (supply and demand), memory prices, and Trump administration tariffs that bounce around,” said Dr. Jon Peddie, president of Jon Peddie Research. “Customers who would, and in some cases, should, be replacing their PCs and AIB are holding off. We think because of these unstable conditions, the PC and AIB market will decline almost 10% in 2026.”
