TTCI’s Sam Fortna Actively Participates in IPC 2-40 Committee to Advance PCB and PCBA Standards
March 27, 2026 | The Test Connection Inc.Estimated reading time: 1 minute
The Test Connection Inc. (TTCI), a trusted provider of electronic test and manufacturing solutions for more than 45 years, is proud to highlight the active involvement of Sam Fortna, Test Engineering Lead and Trainer, in the IPC 2-40 Committee, which develops standards for printed circuit boards (PCB) and printed circuit board assemblies (PCBA).
The IPC 2-40 Committee plays a critical role in shaping industry standards across all stages of electronics manufacturing, from design and fabrication to assembly, inspection, and reliability. By contributing real-world knowledge from design, manufacturing, test, and quality, committee participants help ensure standards address current challenges and evolving technologies.
As Bert Horner, President of The Test Connection often shares, “We find this committee especially valuable as it works to standardize CAD, drawings, and reference documentation. This helps ensure consistency in how information is structured and accessed, making assembly and test development more efficient and predictable, especially when managing design changes on the PCB or PCBA.”
Sam Fortna brings eight years of hands-on expertise across flying probe test, in-circuit test (ICT), boundary scan (JTAG), and in-system programming (ISP). He also supports IPC standards training and technical instruction in partnership with industry leaders such as Seica. His participation reflects TTCI’s commitment to knowledge sharing, technical excellence, and advancing industry standards.
TTCI encourages others in the electronics industry to get involved. Whether new to standards participation or a seasoned expert, your input is valuable and welcomed.
Getting involved is simple: email answers@electronics.org to request addition to the standards work group. Once approved, participants can access and contribute through IPC Works.

EDADOC: Building the ‘Neural Hub’ for High-Compute Chips Within a Compact Space
04/28/2026 | ECIOEvery chip to the market must pass a stringent checkpoint before shipment known as ATE testing. Serving as the physical “neural hub” that connects test equipment worth millions of dollars with the device under test, the performance of the ATE test board directly determines the accuracy, efficiency, and final yield of chip testing. Amid the rapid rise of high-compute chips, what extreme challenges is this seemingly small circuit board facing? How is EDADOC addressing industry pain points through its one-stop “design + manufacturing” model?
