NEPCON SOUTH CHINA 2015 Set for Shenzhen this August
June 8, 2015 | Reed Exhibitions Greater ChinaEstimated reading time: 9 minutes
The Chinese stock market has seen dramatic growth in 2015, with startups and the Shenzhen Composite Index rising to unbelievable heights. Behind the huge growth is a commitment by the national government to facilitating the sustained growth of industries such as internet+ and information technology.
In May 2015, the State Council launched the Chinese version of the Industry 4.0 strategy: Made in China 2025. This strategy sets out the growth path of the Chinese manufacturing sector and outlines numerous positive signs for further growth and development. Thanks to positive domestic momentum, NEPCON South China 2015, to be held at Shenzhen Conference and Exhibition Center from August 25 to August 27, will align the industry with national development strategies. The event will continue to feature top products from the fields of innovative electronics manufacturing equipment, automation technologies, and manufacturing upgrades. As an influential trade event, NEPCON South China 2015 will help shape the all-new industry chain in China’s electronic manufacturing industry and help promote the “Made in China 2025” strategy.
The largest, longest-standing electronics manufacturing event in South China, NEPCON South China 2015 will take place alongside Shenzhen International Circuit Sourcing Show 2015. Together, the events will span an exhibition area of 37,500 sqm and feature 500 top electronics manufacturing brands from around the world.
During the three-day event, new products, materials, and technologies covering SMT, soldering, test and measurement, and electronics manufacturing automation will be on show. A range of side activities will be held too, including EMA automation, service robotics, applications and more. Exhibitors, trade visitors, industry colleagues, and representatives of academia will exchange on industry issues in a relaxed environment, learning and sharing information on new industry developments.
Four Key Advantages Enable NEPCON South China To Support Industry Growth
Shenzhen has been home to NEPCON South China for decades. The city remains a key IT industry hub in China, and the world, boasting HQs and offices of top companies like Huawei, Foxconn, ZTE, Skyworth, TCL, and Great Wall. These companies are IT, home appliance, and electronics leaders in China. Global electronics manufacturing giants also come to Shenzhen to set up bases. Today, the city features a complete electronics manufacturing industry chain, which is driving Shenzhen towards an elevated status as a global industry leader.
In addition, thanks to favorable state policies and the transition of the global IT industry, Shenzhen and its surrounding areas are enjoying increasingly favorable conditions in terms of geography, policy support, HR talent and technologies. The industry is growing at a rapid pace. Over the years, the IT industry has driven growth in the Pearl River Delta, with computing, computer peripherals, software, communication, electronics, components, and AV as key products, registering annual growth rates of 66%.
Today, the IT industry is the most important industry pillar in South China, providing major growth, strong competitiveness, and closely linking to other industries. The fast-growth IT industry is also helping Shenzhen build up a key IT R&D and production hub in China and the world. Shenzhen is also increasingly closely linked with its surrounding cities, including Guangzhou, Huizhou, Foshan, Zhongshan, and Zhuhai, all of which have a strong IT presence. The cities have an IT corridor that may lead to even bigger business opportunities for the entire region.
Shenzhen started from humble beginnings of high levels of sub-contracting, coupled with a real lack of IP and hi-tech capabilities. These limitations hampered the city’s growth. In light of the recent global industry slowdown, Shenzhen is exploring its strategic positioning and is determined to build on its rich electronics manufacturing expertise to develop native innovations.
A particular focus will be on electronics manufacturing and equipment backed up by better trade. Now, thanks to the opportunities offered by the national IT industry upgrade process, Shenzhen is embracing expanded business opportunities in terms of R&D and trade. It is also China’s lead IT industry hub, boasting an annual output worth over RMB 1 trillion (USD 161.2 billion). It is already a key electronics centre in China and the world. The South China market, with Shenzhen at its core, is the frontier for future growth: the future of China’s IT industry hinges on the dynamics in Shenzhen.

Building on years of technological development, local companies have made major breakthroughs on multiple fronts, including automatic test and measurement, soldering, consumables, and printing. Leveraging the important trade platform offered by NEPCON South China, local exhibitors will exchange on the huge business potential within the industry and expand their business channels.
Electronics Manufacturing Automation: Key Concept Drives Industry Growth
In recent years, the Chinese electronics manufacturing industry has developed substantively. Today, the industry is a pillar of the national economy. China has become the world’s biggest, fastest-growing electronics manufacturing market. However, against a backdrop of global industry uncertainty and a dip in competitiveness, the electronics industry development is being challenged by rising HR costs. Over-reliance on low labor costs has created a big problem, and the challenge of how to address this issue and help companies lower operational costs through automation solutions is high on the industry agenda. How can manual labor be replaced with automation, and push the envelop of processes, in an effort to improve product quality? These questions have to be answered by improving overall industry technological strength. New electronics manufacturing concepts have been a hot topic among manufacturers from the very beginning.
NEPCON South China 2015 will feature an electronics manufacturing automation section to demonstrate industry trends. The inclusion of this section at the event significantly boosts the importance of electronics manufacturing in the overall industry landscape, which in turn will attract more exhibitors. Leading international brand names, ABB and Kuka, are confirmed for the event. More are expected to confirm in the coming days and weeks. The event will also help the industry to explore the state of electronics manufacturing in China and worldwide. Discussions will serve as a barometer of industry health and reveal prospects for further upgrades. The next wave of advancements in electronics manufacturing is expected soon.
